Apex'i EL EGT gauge / thermocouple question

I recently purchased an array of used original EL series Apex'i gauges, but the EGT doesn't have the probe so I need to buy one.

Does the Apex'i gauge use a type K thermocouple? (red & yellow wires)

I'd much rather pay $45 for an Autometer probe than $90 for the Apex'i one.

I have the same gauge... recently uninstalled it. I'm not interested in selling the probe by itself, but I can snap pics of it for you and look for markings. I'll do that tonight if I get the time.

That's really nice of you, but don't trouble yourself too much. Can you tell if the probe is yellow and red wire? I think those colors are universal for K type. Mine will show up in a few days, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to tell what type it is from just the gauge. I've looked online for paperwork for the gauge but have come up empty.

The wires are red and white. Do you know if you're receiving the harness that plugs into the gauge? If not, I don't know how you'll connect the sensor.

Not sure what kind of T/C that gauge is built for ...(i would guess K) The reason for my post is to offer a little advice on buying T/C's ....don't buy from retailers they over charge for they're universal T/C's. Go to strait to Omega.com They will build you one to your specs for dirt cheap...I paid something like $19 bucks for a custom built K-type and they had it made and at my door the same week. just figure out your needs and call them up.
