Anyone want a free engine rebuild/porting?
What's up folks. I've been wanting to get some engine rebuilds under belt for a while now, but don't have any to do. I am very mechanically inclined, and I don't do shitty work. If someone wants me to rebuild their engine I would gladly do it. Just pay for shipping and the new parts (i.e. rebuild kit). You could send me the short block, and I would do all the work you need. If you want porting, then send me the porting templates and the carbide bits. I wouldn't offer any warranty other than that if you send it back to me, I'll fix it. As of yet I don't know the timeframe in which I could finish it, but if there is interest, we can figure it out.

Have you ever rebuilt an engine before? I'm about 2 to 3 hours from you, and if I ever need a rebuilt, and I could swing buy and you could show me how. I've rebuilt boingers, but never even had a rotary apart.

i would love to do that, but (AFAIK, i don't need a rebuild, nor do i have the money for it). i bet if you provided some references of the other engines you've rebuilt you could be in business. good comments from your 'customers' and i wouldn't be surprised if you got swamped with offers. i'm keepin this thread too. good luck though p'cola
edit: it would also be pretty cool if you came up with some sort of a 'price-list', for the different parts and port jobs you would be doing.... just some suggestions

FD3 BOOST, your concern is valid. I have yet to rebuild an engine, that is why I am offering my services free(for now). I am not doing this for the hell of it, I am actually looking into making some money on the side, once I establish myself as being reputable. There is an amount of risk involved to he who sends me an engine. I'm not going to lie. But I know what I'm doing, and have access to all the resources and information that I could ever need. As well as having some teamfc3s friends that have rebuilt more engines than most have seen. I'm not just some dumb redneck looking for a pastime. I may soon get the materials to set up a small shop.
Neo, a rebuild kit can be had from www.rotaryaviation.com the porting templates are available from mazdatrix and racing beat. I'll PM you my number.

sounds awesome P'cola! Im gonna be buying a GXL for 200 bucks this weekend... comes with 1 good engine, and one bad one. I think I'll send you the bad one, and you can tinker with it.
You're pretty good at explaining things in a step by step fashion, maybe you should make a video?
One day I'll rebuild my own engine (peripheral port!!!!) until then, the learning process will continue

hey danny, i have one bad apex seal in my fd, im getting 60-60-90 compression in one of the rotors. the motor is a mazda reman with about 14000 miles on it, so i would imagine parts needed are minimal (probably limited to not much more than one new apex seal or spring), and paying for a whole new reman would be ludicrous. since most of the parts should still be okay, i would imagine mine would be a good example of a good first rebuild. can you please send me an email with some type of ballpark timeframe ETA (a couple days, weeks, months?) of how long it will take to get back to me? i am seriously in need of a motor, and i think we can help eachother out. you have helped me with some problems in the past, and i have even bought some used random parts (boost solenoids, etc) from you before, and you have been a very excellent resource for wrenching on the fd. please send me an email asap. thanks in advance!

Alright, looks like neoamd will be the first. He'll probably get it to me in a couple of weeks. Once I get done with his I can get started on your car, rx7speed811. If you want to wait around, that's cool. Keep in mind, though, that the seal may have gouged the rotor or the rotor housing on its way out.

Once I get good, I'll probably have some system of either charging such and such amount of money, or doing the work for parts such as a haltech, pfc, frontmount, etc.
