BG44K is a good choice. Not likely you will notice a difference.

Not sure if that was the (only) culprit.

inconclusive, but very suspect.

lol, you have probably gone through more engines than anyone else in the world! You also hold the record for most miles on an fd /applause. You talk about engines like its a small thing! so much money /gasp!

I only use Lucas Oil products in my fd, I know many of you will disagree with me on their octan booster, but I know it works!

I've heard 'Forte Gas Treatment' is supposed to be very good, anyone else heard of it?

BTW: DO NOT USE CHEVRON 93 or any CHEVRON..

I don't know why.. maybe their quality control is bad or something.
But everyone in the BMW forums say that Chevron 93 is crap and not to use it.
With the rotory being more PING prone.. I Would stay clear of them also..
I agree! I've had two bad experiences with Chevron. The first one was when I filled my RX-8 with Chevron 87 octane. Once the ambient temperature got around 80f the engine started knocking while just cruising the freeway. As soon as I topped the 1/2 tank off with Shell 92 the knock went away. The second time I filled with Chevron 92 and under load the engine knocked between 4.5K and 5K rpm with ambietn temperature around 97 f.
I don't know how mazda does it but just yesterday they decarboned the engine and I've been able to run 87 octane with out it knocking. Keep in mind that i've only run it hard once since then and the ambient temperature was 65f
BTW, Don't start in on me with you cannot make a naturally aspirated rotary knock because it will with carbon build up. I don't know if it is all the naturally aspirated rotary engines or just the 8s rotary, but it can take a beating from knock without tossing an apex out the tail pipe.

For what it's worthless, the local Mazda mechanic keeps saying to burn only Chevron in the Rx because of the Chevron injector cleaner in the gas.
It's important to keep your injector clean.
