Never heard of it.

Do you have a link? What is the core size? Pics?

if it's the picture posted in your thread looking for a PFS SMIC, then it looks like the PFS with the hot side piping coming in like the M2. It looks like the ducting also screws in like the PFS as well.
If the core size is similar, buy it. All you need to do to make it work with the efini y pipe you bought it to take a dremel tool with a cut off wheel and cut the flange off the efini y pipe. Then use a coupler like the old setup. I never had a problem with the couple coming loose so that's how I did it with mine. The lower part of the efini y pipe is where the flow is improved.

Doing a search only pulled up ONE person, on this forum, using one. Another person had one (the pictures of it are in the Classified section when he was selling it) but apparently had no piping to use it.

Not exactly the most well know intercooler is it? LOL thanks guys for trying to help me out.The deal is a pretty good one so I think im going to go for it.The seller says he also has piping for it but no ducting.Bummer on that aspect.
I wish I knew what these intercoolers go for new so I could see just what kind of deal I am getting exactly.I mean ive searched the forum and ive seen just the intercooler alone sell for maybe 200 hundred dollars or less. The seller wants 650 shipped. So you can see my concern.

Piping can be expensive if it's stainless steel. If it's not stainless steel piping, then that deal is not all that good (if you have access to a welder that is).

If you don't have the tools or access to someone who does, creating the IC piping can be a pain. In that case, the extra $300-400 may be worth it for you.

Also, keep in mind, ducting is very important to stock mount IC's. Without proper ducting, the IC in the stock location will be almost useless. You might be able to get a Pettit duct for one of their stock mounts and modify it to work.

Yeah I sold that one on ebay after getting laughed off the forum for trying to sell it without pipes or ducting. I thought i would just have some pipes made for it but found another IC instead. The core was very nice and looked like a very solid IC just would have been alot of work.

I think the one in your WTB thread is a PFS that has been altered on the hot side. If it's for sale at a good price, take it, since you can do like I mentioned above and still use the efini-y pipe.

RS Akimoto stopped making performance parts for the FD around 1996ish (they are still around today and focus more on the higher volume cars). I have a catback exhaust from them on my car (very well done 3" pipe with Dynomax Ultra-Flo muffler). All of their stuff is very well engineered from talking to a few mechanics in the area that are familiar with them.

If you can get one + fab of pipes for < than a M2 medium would cost you then I'd go for it.

The offer I have on the table right now is a different offer than the pettit cool charge 2.He says that its the large rs akimoto cooler.I havent been able to find any solid info on whether theres been more than one version for example like the asp medium and the asp large.I have however been able to find solid info on a rs akimoto intercooler.Just no medium or large attached to it.The dimensions on the core were as follows 12in long x 8 in tall x 3 in wide . I noticed most aftermarket cores were very wide. Usually 3.5 inches wide or 4 inches wide.
Which is better for an intercooler? being slightly longer and not as wide or tall or being more compact but wider? For example the pfs is 10 in length x 10 inches in height and is 3.5 inches wide.Is this a better cooling intercooler because of its width?
