Anyone else keep a FD log/receipt book?
Just wondering how many of you keep a log of your FD? I have a book that I try and keep a record of when I drive it, what modifications I do, what parts I replace, and when. I just like to keep tabs on what I do, it helps me keep track, and I figure if I ever sell the car, it would be a definatate plus to have records. Here are a few pics I took today when organizing it. Receipts totaling about $5k.. and I havent even done much yet

i keep almost all the reciepts of the mods and major repairs i do to the car. Needless to say, its very painful to take out my 1 inch thick folder with around $25k in just mods and repairs. Lately i have been a little lazy on keeping some of the reciepts, im probably better off, lol.

I keep all records and recepts for my car. think of it this way, when you go to sell the car the new owner will love to see that your honest and have taken care of the vehicle. I wish when I purchased my car it came with records.

I tried to do that with my old TII, but that quickly got lost in the shuffle. There's SO much stuff I do that's hard to chronicle with receipts - getting junkyard parts, making things, trips to the parts store, etc. It would be much easier if everything I bought was from a big shop and I paid someone to install it, but that wouldn't be any fun .

I have about 30 grand in receipts, I didn't know it was that much until my wife found the folder and asked me out of no where " How much you think you spent on the car? " of course I said I don't know and I don't want to know, but I know it's alot. She can't say **** , because I saved for a wedding and a house also.

I try to keep all the major reciepts, this way I have some proof of purschase. I think it's important to keep record of the major work done and mods. Little things like oil changes and plugs I don't bother keeping a record.

I keep all my receipts with exception to gas, coolant, oil and a few other insignificant details. I even keep my tire purchases in the file.
The previous owner of my FD didn't have any documentation on the vehicle. The only reason I though it was ok to buy was that it ran good when I took a ride in the car.
Since then, every time I upgrade something, I've been finding stuff that's been neglected for too long

I don't keep reciepts, unless it something high dollar(mods vs maintenance). If you register your car on the Mazda website they let you keep a maintenance log. So I record what, when and mileage for anything I do to the FD.

I keep most of my receipts, the ones that cost alot. Like for small stuff like my shift **** or my mats, i threw those receipts out.
I also make a log in a regular notebook everytime i change something like oil, plugs or if i have to replace something cause something broke, ill write down what it was (including make and model #), how much it cost, the mileage it failed and the date.
I dont plan on selling the car ever but i like to go back through my papers just to reminisce (sp) i guess. lol

I keep all of my reciepts, since it is my business vehicle . In addition, I have a word program on my computer. Whenever I do any work on the car, I log the mileage, date, and what I did. It acts as a reminder when I need to change the oil, and other fluids. Once a year I run a bottle of BG44K injector cleaner in a tank of gas. I would never remember if I didn't have my log.
