I recently purchased a 93 rx7 base model off a member off the forum. The car is being shipped from toronto ontario to saskatchewan where I live by hansen's shipping. BTW no one use this shipping company the car is late showing up and was called today and informed that they damaged the car loading it in winnipeg.
I was told that the ramp broke and it punctured something under the car. It leaked coolant so they had to add some to get it into the train car.
Does anyone know what could have been wrecked under there that would leak coolant? Also does anyone have pictures of the underside? This will be the first rx-7 I own. I am quite knowledgable about cars but am still learning about rotaries.
I'm kind of peeved off right now, finally bought one of my dream cars then a careless shipping company wrecks it and delivers it late. I have tried calling them but only get answering machines and after leaving a message get no response.
Anyways the one time I did talk to someone we arranged for me to come look at the car tomorow. I would like to go prepared. I also have a feeling that the car has been overheated if the coolant had leaked out. They are offering to get the car fixed, so if anyone knows a good garage in regina saskatchewan let me know.
Hopefully people can make sense of that, like I said I'm so mad right now I can hardly think straight.
Thanks for any help!
Quinn

dont worry, your troubles are just beginning ![Smilie](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I can send some pics later tonight.
hopefully it's just the coolant resevoir and not any damage to the radiator or other hoses, but probably good to replace those anyway. that may not be the only damage. I would look at the oil pan too![Smilie](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
post pics when u get it!

******* idiots, pray it's the reservoir but plan for the rad or the hoses since the rad faces downward on a stock car. better hope they put more coolant in when they go to take it off. They should also be paying for replacement parts since it was their **** up.

From the sounds of it the car was dropped quite hard. I don't know if an undertray would have saved it. I'm pretty disappointed in the shipping company.
So from what I'm reading so far there is a coolant reservoir that would likely have been damaged.
If the car has been overheated should I be seeking more in damages. From what I've read rotaries and heat don't go very well together.
Thanks for all the input so far. It is greatly appreciated.

if the car was "dropped" from some amount of height, I wouldnt worry about the coolant resevoir... but more like everything else... coolant resevoir is cheap, I just mentioned because it can leak coolant if it breaks.
How the hell did they "drop" the car? did it roll off the back of the truck with no ramp in place? I'd be looking at everything related to suspension as well as underneath all over the car, fuel tank, fuel lines, transmission, oil pan .. ??
get a body shop to check it, check the frame and everything. maybe get a lawyer?
sux man. hope it turns out ok.

check to see if it burns coolant, there's a number of ways to do that, it's unlikely that the coolant seals were damaged in the amount of time it would take for the car to get on/off the train and trailer, but it's possible. if the coolant seals are damaged you should be getting them to pay for a full rebuild.

I hope it turns out as well, if the shipping company doesn't follow through to my satisfaction I will be seeking legal services for sure.

so the ramp broke while the car was on it? sounds nasty. I would imagine some body damage would come out of that. On to a train, that means the bed is higher up than a normal truck?
separate issue: did they leave the car idling for a period of time? even if that were to happen, the stock fans should have come on (even the stock fd thermoswitch) should prevent overheating in that situation.
if possible, I would try to be there as they unload, so you can watch what they do before they have a chance to "patch" anything. take a camera with you too.
I shipped my frist fd I owned (now on my 2nd), and I was there watching them unload from the truck.. just in case.

I'm not sure the exact practices involved in loading a car into a train car. I am unsure about the idling as well.
I wanted to be there when they were unloading the car but I am two hours away from where it is being unloaded. I was going to drive there but I could not get ahold of anyone to know when they were doing it.
Wish me luck tomorow that the car is not very damaged, I would still appreciate some pictures of the underside of the car.
Thanks

I have the car in my possession now. The coolant reservoir was broken so good call on that. There are also stress cracks in the front bumper and a scuff on the passengers side front wheel. The undertray is also gouged pretty good.
The coolant reservoir has been patched together for now so I can drive it, the new one should be in tomorow. Since driving it has blown a turbo coolant line dumping all the coolant again. It has since been replaced and WOW never worked on a car with so much stuff in such a tight place.
First impressions are holy this car is everything I've wanted. Its a little tight getting in but once I'm in there its not too bad. It drives like a go cart I've never had a car that handles like this one. The power is also pretty good, not the fastest car I've driven but its very direct and raw when you get on the throttle. Overall very impressed, will be keeping this car for awhile! Will put up pics in a bit.
Thanks for the help so far,
Quinn

^^ Hey, I got that right! well at least the coolant issue wasnt something related to the radiator and other crap.
also, from what you describe, it seems the front end was dropped pretty good
hope they will replace those parts, especially the undertray. After you get that off, I would closely inspect everything really good. Getting them to pay for stuff after the fact will be very difficult.
I would look at the front suspension too... if it slammed really hard, the shocks or mounts could have been damaged; both upper and lower ends. If you can swing it, i'd still get the frame checked out.
