dont take this wrong. . . just constructive criticism. . . is the ic "crooked" in the bay? as in. . . shouldnt it be sitting in the bay with a parallel-like property to the front bumper and engine? you dont seem to have the other side hooked up, so maybe its just an adjustment. . . is there a way to make sure its "straight"???

btw, it looks like that duct has DEFINATELY come a long way since the last time i saw it. . . good job, good job indeed. oh, and i see you got the "xspower" logo off the ic. :D

I think it's just the camera angle... it appears to be parallel with the front crossmember/hood latch.

How are people removing the XS Power logo? Just sanding and polishing?

Sorry it looks a little crooked...it is because I didnt have the other side of the IC hooked up. I just set it in there for the picture to give everyone an idea. :)

As far as the logo, I started sanding it with 40 grit on a flat sanding block thing. Well that was taking forever. I went to my trusty belt sander and it took it off in no time. then went to 320...then to 600. I painted the endtanks and the top plate because I didnt really want a polished/chrome engine bay. but if you want it polished, substitute my painting for polishing and there you go. :)

it looks a whole hell of a lot better without the damn logo. :D

TwinTurbo_SE7EN 10-26-05 06:05 PM

NOTE: The pictures do not show the IC and radiator seal that will be included and installed on the duct.

rotorbrain 10-27-05 11:06 AM

it looks tooooooooons better!!!

How thick is the aluminum on that top plate and how high is/was the raised logo?

rotorbrain 10-27-05 01:47 PM

that top plate is just like the top plate that kevin wyum put on the asp intercoolers. . . its just for show/protection. its plenty thick enough to sand down. the "raised letter" portion wasnt that thick at all. . . too low to measure. . . too tall to leave on there. :D

ALRIGHT. For those that want this done, the group buy is here and approved. https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-center-69/gb-fiberglass-duct-xspower-intercooler-ends-11-11-05-a-476815/

thanks.

lol. :D

rotorbrain 11-01-05 09:45 AM

so, how much does it cost total on average to get all of this?

edit: not too bad. . . for 20+ people. . . you can get an smic for roughly 275!!!! not too bad AT ALL!!!!!

TwinTurbo_SE7EN 11-01-05 11:43 AM

I think you mean 375. the IC itself is 225 + 150 (20+ people) = 375. but after shipping and insurance on the IC which is 28.19.

So it would be $403.19 shipped and insured for the SMIC and the duct. :)

jayk 11-01-05 12:21 PM

Somebody should really come up with a "cheap bastard" seal of approval :)

oh, the only one i saw on ebay was going for 175. . . sorry about that. maybe i should have said. . . "AS LOW AS". . . :D

jayk 11-01-05 01:09 PM

Thats probably without the piping.

rotorbrain 11-01-05 01:12 PM

hmm. . . well, oops x 2!!!! still. . . 375 is NOT bad. . . :D

TwinTurbo_SE7EN 11-01-05 03:26 PM

ya, the one on ebay for 175 was without piping, couplers, or t-bolts...and had 2.5" inlet and outlet. eek.

the one for $225 is the one you WANT. :D

jayk, replied to your PM. :)

HDP 11-05-05 03:55 PM

Received my xspower intercooler today... and guess what?? 2.75" in/out. The quality actually looks very good. Cast endtanks, good welds... and I only paid $196.19 shipped. So I figure another $50 to make a duct and maybe another $70 for a Summit Racing 10" fan to help with the heatsoak should provide much better improvement over stock than the ASP for the cost.

$316.19 XSPOWER SMIC kit, custom duct, 10" cooling fan

$1525.00 ASP medium SMIC kit

wow, I still have $1208.81 to spend on other mods :smiley309

countdown till flame attack.... 10... 9... 8... 7... 6...

So you bought the $175 IC that states in the ad that it has 2.5" in/out and it actually had 2.75"?

Yep. I'm thinking maybe they had "X" number of 2.5" they needed to get rid of quick and perhaps ran out and had to give me 2.75". No complaints from me... but also, now that I think about it, I wonder if the 2.5" stated was I.D.? When pipe diameter is given, is it usually I.D. or O.D.?

jayk 11-06-05 01:11 PM

Did it come with piping?
