another what's it worth thread
just trying to see what my car might be worth if i were to sell it. mods are below
'99 Bumper, turn signals, re-bar, tail lights, and spoiler. Has JDM sidemarkers, Spirit-R emblems, and updated Mazda emblems all around. Paint is just a few months old. It's color code 25g, which is titanium grey metallic. The car was Brilliant Black, but now the engine bay is the only thing that is still black. Chassis has ~125k miles on it.
Motor is an Atkins rebuild with 3mm seals, oil mods, enlarged water passages, and extreme street port with 26k miles on it. Fuel system is Denso competition pump, 1680cc secondaries with a Keith Gibbons rail, and SX adjustable FPR.
Greddy T78 Kit
PWR radiator
Pettit AST
A'pexi FMIC
Solid aluminum motor mounts
B&M short shifter
Mazdaspeed carbon shift ****
Efini steering wheel
Power FC w/commander and FC datalogit
Gotham power fc mount
Center dual gauge pod
Defi D-series boost and egt gauges
Greddy intake elbow with Type-S bov
Tein Flex coilovers
ACT Xtreme street strip clutch
ACT 9.5lb chromoly flywheel
removed emissions with block off plates
3" stainless midpipe
A'pexi GT series cat-back
KAAZ 1.5 way diff
pettit solid diff bushings
pettit toe links
M2 trailing arms
all pillowballs replaced a little over a year ago
Greddy profec b spec 2
HKS twin-power ignition
Gotham drilled/slotted rotors
Hawk HP+ brake pads
Gram Lights 57pro 18x9 and 18x10 with 255/35 and 285/30 Falken GR Betas
there's probably a few things i'm missing, but that's the majority of it all
there's a pic in my sig, and i've posted various pics in threads throughout the site. the car won first in it's class at NOPI in Atlanta this year. It laid down 439rwhp on 16psi, which has gotten me a best of 7.32 @ 96.59 in the 1/8th mile, best mph being 97.16, all on Nitto drag radials. The car is also quite competitive at auto-x.
Anyone have an estimate of what she might go for?

KBB unless you are selling to someone who really wants one built. Other wise you can't expect to get the money back that you put into it in upgrades. Just a sad fact of life.
That said, i would agrre that to the right person it would bring you around 20K That color is soo close to mine it's not even cool Very nice ride. And I hope you never sell it!!

If you put it up for sale and can wait; you can probably get $20-22k. If you are in a hurry, I'd be suprised to see it go for more than $17-18k.

Realistically, the problem you will face will be the person will have that kind of cash in hand or not.. As most people can't get more than 9-10K car loan for 1993-1994 rx7 from the bank. And we all know these cars are more popular to younger generation than older generation.. And most young (19-25) have huge cc debt or bad credit to get a good interest rate or even qualify for a loan. It starts to make sense why most people who sell their cars rip out the mods and sell them bone stock..

there was one locally that had about half as much money invested in modifications that sold for $22k, so i'm pretty sure i would have no problem getting more than that providing the right buyer stepped up

I disagree on the 9-10k though. Our cars actually book very well you would be able to have a bank finance probably up to about 17-19, for someone with good credit. And if someone has perfect credit, then they can pay whatever you want

Since you love the car so much. Are you willing to consider/trade to another good condition RX-7 plus some cash? Just a thought if you needed some cash.
Like for example, I have a 1993 very good condition FD with reliability mods 49,000 original miles, OEM skirts and 18" rims.
Again it's just an example...
One of my regret like 9 years ago is buying a 25K car instead of a house. Especially here in the Silicon Valley, if I used that money for a downpayment on a house I would have made at least 250k-300k easily if I sold a house in today's prices. Just an advise.

Luckily, a friend of mine was a bank manager for AmSouth bank and gave me 8% and punched in 1995 instead of 93 model and gave me 11K loan. Also, alot of banks don't want to give car loans to a car more than 5-8 years old car..
But personal loan, I'm sure depend on your equity and such, someone could get well over 20+K.. I used my home equity (5%) to buy my last FD.

People suggesting over $18k must be seriously out of touch with the market. Very few RX-7s sell for over $18k. The ones that do are stock with very low miles (< 20k miles) or medium low miles (~40k miles or less) in combination with $10-$20k of high quality modifications. A car with 100k miles or more will generally sell for around $8-$10k, slightly more if it has a lot of high quality bits on it.
I have hung out on lots of car groups and have bought and sold quite a few cars of different types and I don't think I have ever seen such a discrepancy between what what some RX-7 owners think a car is worth and its actual market value.
Where are people getting these $25k numbers? The only way an RX-7 would be worth $25k is if it were a 1995 R2 with 10k miles or so and $30k+ worth of modifications.

Im work in Finance. You would be lucky to get a lender to loan 10k on a 93. Most lenders will not even loan that far back. You could probably get 10-11 for a 95. Think im bsing, call a credit union.

RX7's are some what different than most cars.. I'm sure most of us know that..
I know its hard to sell a car that's 10-12 years old, but it all depend on the buyer.. I don't think 20K is un-reasonable.. But at the same time, I would never buy an 95 R2 with 10K.. because most likely apexi seal springs and what not be in any good condition.. These cars aren't meant to sit around for years.. Needs to be driven..
And If I were to drop 30K in mods, I wouldn't be selling the car for 25K?? Part it out and make more money!!
Its all depend on the seller's need for cash and buyers desire for the car..
Most cases, I see more people wanting these cars but they seem to lack the cash.. Hence better to take all the mods and sell it cheaper.. I'm doing that with another FD that I have.. Changing it back to stock, get the compression test done and sell it at 11-13K..

Buying a house! it will help you in the long run.. My house that I bought 2 years ago, already went up 30K.. and also, you could borrow against the house for lower interest rate..
You don't want to wait that much longer.. interest rate seems to climbed a little..

i really do want a house, but i'm just not willing to part with my car right now. i'm already going to have to sell my truck to be able to make room for a payment. as of right now, i'll be temporarily living in an apartment until the girlfriend graduates college and i can get my car paid off.
as far as the worth, people don't understand what it costs to mod these cars. to buy an FD and mod it identical to mine, you couldn't do it under $45k, and that's with doing the work on your own. if you had to pay someone to do it, the labor prices would be astronomical.
this is another reason why i doubt i'd sell my car because noone will ever be able to give me what i think it's worth. still kinda crazy how supra owners mod the hell out of their cars and get astronomical amounts of money for them, but it seems to devalue our cars
