amost overheated, what causes this?

saturday I had major overheating issues. I came close to losing my engine. All day the temps were over 106. At one point during the day my temps hit 110, even on the highway.

at night even after it cooled down as I was going home my car was at 105. I the car was sitting at idle and it slowly rose. Eventually it hitt 112 and I got on the highway, i rose to 114 and the wind cooled it down to about 99. After about 20 minutes of driving it eventually went down to 85 and stayed there.

I am not losing any coolant, the over heating seems to happen on really hot days. Any ideas? Can this be caused from a thermostat? My fans were running.

I have koyo radiator, new ast and most of my hoses are new. My cooling fans have been replaced recently. If I use the A/C it will get worse.

the only other thing I can think of...I know my car had mostly coolant and little water. I found out a few weeks ago, so I drained what was in the radiator and added water. That made a difference on cool days. Prior to that even on cold days I would hit 95 frequently. With the water I cruize on cool days from 82 to 86. In 100 degree weather my car could not take it.

IT is your thermostat.

Most ignored part in the cooling system, more failure prone than anything else.

I HOPE thats it. If its hot outside, my temps will be over 100 after about 30 minutes from a cold start. I cant drive around town

Getting it checked out tomorrow.
