I have scuff plate but I don't think they are made by mazda. They are chrome and are sheet metal material. The ones I see look rather thick. Can someone tell me if they are thick or think??

are they stamped with rx7? Also the mazdaspeed ones are coated with clear coat and have a rubber edges.

They're thin, stamped aluminum. Really don't think they'd do well holding up against dings/etc (and scratch easily), which is why I had mine chromed.

There is a recess stamped for the RX7 emblem, and thin, metal numerals/letters in a gold tint attached with adhesive tape.

Then again, I do know there were at least two different productions of OEM mats, with subtle differences. Could be the same with the sill plates.

Never put my Mazda sills in, and turned around and bought Attila's CF version - which are muy nice.

See the post by Attila (atihun) here:
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...5&pagenumber=2

Pics on his website here, with a glimpse of the CF sills:
http://www.atihun.com/pictures/wing/index.html

Attila and 65imp are the guys that did one of the Mazdaspeed replica hoods:

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=27385

I believe they are ramping up production as we speak of the CF sills (which are replicas of the OEMs, just in CF), replica 99+ wings (with avaiable CF center section), CF ducts for all those poor CWR SMIC owners that are missing thiers (essentially almost everyone) and other stuff.

That's been the outstanding question for some time...

Seeing how I want some and just got the aluminum sills, I'd figure they would be out of my range.

IMO, given the pricing of the Al ones ~$130 for stamped aluminum and the labor involved in making the CF ones. I'd guess he'd charge around $200 for it to be worth his while... (at the same time delivering a quality piece)

200? would be kinda steep. I would rather get the aluminum ones in that case.. but I emailed him for prices.. awaiting reply...

Hey John,

If the sills you are talking about are the ones you and your brother picked up from me, I bought them off of dclin. I am sure he could tell you if they are genuine Mazda or not.

Bwhahaha, as usual, my parts are whored across the 7 community.

I think I topped it with loaning my 99+ wing to Attila, so that he can make replicas. Ah, to think that many wonderful, affordable replicas for the community was begotten by mine. (wipes tear from cheek)

They're the real thing John - TTT did the chrome.

Yeah, they are the ones that you gave my brother. I'm just not digging the chrome. I'm more of an aluminum guy. I think I might get them covered in CF though. Either way, they are way nicer than the stock black plastic I have. Hey, maybe someone wants to trade for some stock brushed aluminum ones
