Air Pump and UK MOT Emissions
Hello guys,
Im new to the group so be gentle
Just got my FD needs a little work , just changed the diff and is now in need of a MOT (yes im in the UK)
The air pump is faulty so i have disconnected it for the time being (the car is not in use) The car has an Apexi exhaust with a center CAT that still requires (well it has) an air feed.
im guessing that having the air pump removed will probally clogg the cat after a bit of use and im guessing that i will not pass my emissions test with the air pump disconnected.
my question is, do i need the air pump to pass an MOT, would i be better off spending out for a power fc now and removing the air pump all toghter, will i pass an mot with a power fc.
sorry if this reads a little garbled , just trying to get all the info down before i rush out
and info gratefully recived
thanks in advance
Glenn

Your best bet is to find a friendly MOT place.
Failing that it depends upon what year the car is - pre 95 and you might scrape by as the car will get a non-cat test, 96 onwards and you need a miracle to pass with a working airpump and cat.
Regards the PFC - you can make a car pass by leaning out the idle map, but you can't drive the car in that state so have to put the proper map back before heading home.
If you are in the southern part of the country best take it to Dave at Thames Valley MOT as an FD owner he knows what can be done to get them through MOT time.
