Air Cleaner Mating

Air Cleaner Mating
My air cleaner piping (the rectangular box at the top of the inercooler) does not fit tight into the intercooler shielding.
Does yours?
The problem seems to be that the square extention on the piping does not extend down far enough to fully fit into the opening. Also, the fit around the square extention (even if it did extend far enough) is not a tight. There is at least a 1/4" opening all around.
My plan is to use insulation tape to make a tight fit.
Does anyone have any reason I should not do this?

Didn't Mazda determine the stock intake duct actually pulls hot air backward through the intercooler? Anyone?
