AHHHHH heat soak!!! solutions?

You're not listening. The problem isn't airflow through the stock IC, the problem is the stock IC is too small and inefficient. It also creates a larger pressure drop than aftermarket ICs do, which makes the turbos work harder, causing even more heat.
Try the fans out but I don't think they'll do much of anything. Water injection is a lot cheaper than a new IC and is proven to work.
BTW, if you are going to approach this from an engineering standpoint, I suggest you start by developing some way to monitor intake air temps along with a testing scheme for comparisons.

ya, I'm on it right now....
I am listening, as a matter of fact when I first bought the car one of the first things I bought for the car was the DP and bigger intercooler. But people talked me out of it until I got some sort of ECU upgrade or some way of controlling the boost. Actually I was going to do water injection AND the upgraded IC.........
Maybe I'll just get the intercooler and do the flow control test on it, see if it makes a difference. Because I am 100% with you on the Intercooler being too small, I mean it's only a little bigger than the IC that was on my 323 GTX........ (may it rest in piece)
a used SMIC blitz style would be what about $350?...... isn't water injection kit about $260-300? I suppose all I really need to buy is the pump..... and the nozzle the rest I'm sure I can make.....

...first come the reliability mods...then the performance mods...then the removal of luxury and load components...some eventually begin to experiment...ducts, mists, phenolics, ceramics...TEC...etc lol

expect I'm skipping most of this: "then the performance mods...then the removal of luxury and load components"
I enjoy reworking this just as much, if not more than driving. To me it's all part of the experience. If all i wanted to do is drive I would go buy and M3.... or for the matter go flying.... But I like improving things. yes I could wait and mod it and then "improve" things like flow, But like learning to be a better driver, you start from the bottom and work your way up, otherwise you lose sight of what you are doing.

V-mount has no temp problems with the stock hood whatsoever....try tracking your car with an FMIC....I guarantee you the v-mount stock hood car will still be driving long after you've had to pull off to avoid overheating.

Joeydinc I was confused as to what exactly you were asking, so I'm guessing you're running the stock intake shroud and your problem is that the intercooler is missing the air completely for some wierd reason? Or is it cuz of the heat it absorbs?
I've seen the mod w/ the fans on the intercooler didn't get to ask the owner if it helped though. If you end up doing it let us know if it's helps w/ getting the air moving and keeping it cool

Go take the SMIC intercooler out of your car, I did not to long ago to check for oil, I was about to throw it straight in the trash to force myself to buy a real intercooler. The stock intercooler is about as thick as the LCD panel I'm looking at, at MAYBE 1/3 tall as it is. Pure garbage.
