aftermarket SMIC lets see em
thinking of going back to an aftermarket stock mount IC. most likely pettit CCIII, only thing holding me back is price. please share your setups to see if I can make my own setup for less $$$.
Thanks,
Lazaro

If you can make an AST/M2 Medium intercooler, I'll buy it. I am also looking for a SMIC that doesn't require me to relocate my battery.

thanks. I think pettit is a bit bigger and require batter relocation. unless someone please confirm it is not.
wow I like your setup., seriously I regret getting greddy smic because I still have very poor ducting (stock)

i know i've posted this like 20 times on this forum...
but here's my home-made SMIC. the IC is the same size as the pettit cool charge iii kit, but my entire setup cost about 1/3 of the price.
i actually used a pettit cool charge iii duct. since my IC core was the same size. i modified the pettit duct to be a little longer, and also added a 12" switched e-fan, and heat shielding to the end tanks:
stock vs new
modified the efini y-pipe to make it shorter, add a splitter, and rotate the flange 90degrees:
made a pipe to connect the y-pipe to the IC:
added a 12" e-fan (used my fog light switch since i don't have fogs) and heat shielding:
extended duct:
this setup has worked well but now i really want to build a v-mount

Look closer.
While the total size of the IC's are fairly close,
TYPE----[ W......L.........T ]----VOL---[FA, CA]
STOCK--[ 11.5" 4.5" 2.5" ]--129---[29, 52]
BLITZ---[ 11.0" 5.5" 4.0" ]--242---[44, 61]
The Blitz SMIC volume is almost twice the size of the stock (from the thickness being almost twice the size).

Also, my car just passed California Smog inspection last week, something that would never happen with a single turbo, loud BOV, and blatantly oversized IC.

Cool Charge II & III - II does not require battery relocation and III does. This is the same for the M2/ASP IC's in which the Medium does not require battery relocation (may require a smaller battery) where as the Large does require battery relocation.
That is correct. You'll have to find both of them used (and they usually go pretty quick).

Pettit has two IC's which they sell:

Thanks Mahjk. I'll check with them again on the duct.
