I like the idea of using another amp / tyco connector ... someone test that out.
neit_jnf, The Twin Power harness connects after the Ignitor is in the circuit so one would still have to re-wire the stock Ignitor connector. If you're going to re-wire it, you might as well just attach to it when re-wiring it.

Hi All,
So I finished fabricating a bracket from some spare aluminum stock, creating a harness and crimping some custom spark plug cables.
The car runs great. I usually have a miss here and there when it's cold ... up until about 160F. This is totally gone. The car seems to have a stronger pull under part throttle. I'm wondering if I had a partial failure of one of my trailing coils. Bottom line though, great upgrade.
Hey, what fuse is everyone running? After multiplying the duty cycle by current draw on each coil I came up with 53.2 amps at 8000RPM. I'm guessing that it's considerably more than is actually being used. I drove the car for about 20 minutes with a 50 amp fuse. Seems to be working fine.

I'm really glad that I took the time to do this.
My previous FD had all new coils, wires and plugs and still had an occasional idle misfire here and there. My current FD wasn't that much different. Everything that I've done has only improved the situation. That is, new plug wires = less misses; RC cleaned injectors = another improvement but still some misses; etc., etc., etc. Now ... the AEM coils ... I've been listening for a miss the last three days. I haven't heard a single one.
How often have you done a fix or upgrade to your FD and had your expectations 100% met? This is the first one that comes to mind for me. I really enjoy an engine that runs perfectly. This was the last piece in the puzzle for me.

I'm not sure how you would fit four (stock are only three) coils in there. Might be possible though.
Check out how Dale mounted his H2O injection system here. If that area wasn't too prone to water and splashing it might work.
What about near the plugs themselves? Is there anywhere to attach a bracket to the engine?

On a right hand drive, without the steering shaft in the way, the frame rail should be a natural fit. I've put them there on LHD cars, which was a complete PITA because of the steering shaft.

Just out of curiosity, why does the stock ignitor need to be bypassed? Couldn't you just run the "dumb" coils that don't have the ignitors built in?
I was debating just upgrading my leading coils with the "dumb" version of the coil. Is there any reason why this couldn't be done?
Also, is there a reason why I couldn't run a ignition amp with these? I currently run the twin power but it would be nice to run these instead of the stock leading coils.

Hmm ... there's only one stock leading coil ... you'd be replacing it with two ... two coils X twice the current draw each = four times the current draw ... not good for the stock ignitor or wiring.
Just sell the Twin Power ... this will more than make up for what you're trying to save and let you stay on an already beaten path.

I'm using a PFC now, never tried them with the stock ECU.

Guys, we're working on mounting systems for these coils. Two different types. One would be very similar to what James Paventi did in the image below. The other would mount the four coils side by side so that they can be mounted to the frame rail or AC bracket (with AC and PS removed) as some have done. The first type is being designed as a bolt-in solution for the FD. The second as something that can be used for custom mounting solutions.

We've sold some coils to RHD guys and they have put them in the ABS area. Not sure how, haven't seen pics or cars in person. I've personally mounted the coils to the frame rail on LHD cars with AC and PS. It's TIGHT, but it can be done. On a RHD car it would seem, without the steering shaft, this would be a little eaiser.
In short, without a car here to physically touch, it's hard for me to say.
