Which ACT Clutch to buy......... give me some feedback.

I just got the ACT street/strip.
with a 9.5 SR motorsports lightened Flywheel...
I LOVE IT!
It does have a lil in the high gears as well, buts it not too bad..

I just had an ACT HD street/strip clutch put into my otherwise stock FD about two weeks ago and, other than having to retrain my left leg, I'm very pleased with it so far. Glad I wasn't parallel parked the first time I tried it.

Damn, i think i'm also more confused now than when i started reading this thread.
i totally f-d up this past summer and mistakenly ordered a racing ACT clutch instead of the street/strip clutch, so now i need to get one that won't kill me - my car will be my daily driver once again.
that being said, i have the stock flywheel. my understanding is if i get ONLY the ACT s/s clutch this will be okay for daily driving?

I've had my flwheel resurfaced and will have an ACT S/S clutch here in about a week..I'll let you know how it feels...if you can wait..if not..we can share experiences.

For those of you that have the ACT S/S clutch and PP, does it grab A LOT sooner than the stock one? The reason I'm asking is because I just dropped a new reman engine in my FD, along with this clutch. I think I got all the air bled out, but it grabs very quickly when your letting the clutch out. A lot sooner than the stock one. I almost stalled the car (but didn't ) when I first tried to back it out of the garage.

well i dont remember what his name was(singleturboFD???? i think) but it was the gt35/40 user that put almost 500WHP down. he used the street strip and it held up till he turned the boost up past 17lbs or something like that.

I've driven two different FD's with the ACT S/S clutch with the HD pressure plate and I like the setup. It's a little stiffer than stock and I feel like I have to slip the clutch a little more. I did notice the quick catch that paw140 was mentioning. It took me a couple of stalls to get the hang of it. After that, no problems.
Having driven those FD's, I decided to jump on the ACT S/S clutch, HD pressure plate, and RB 9.5# flywheel package from Jason. It's installed ... but, it's iced over in Austin (this is not supposed to happen in central Texas!!!) ... so I probably won't get a chance to test it (with the flywheel, that is) until later this week. I'll make a quick evaluation once I get the clutch broken in.

I said I would, so I am. ACT S/S clutch + RB 9.5# flywheel installed and broken in. It's freakin' awesome. Revs climb fast and I've never seen the speedo climb like that before. Low gears are a lot more responsive now, and shifts at WOT fall to ~5200 rpm (compared to ~4800). The ACT S/S clutch with the HD pressure plate feel almost like stock. The shifts are stiffer and depressing the clutch requires slightly more foot pressure. Now that the clutch is bedded in properly, I don't notice the quick catch anymore. Great upgrade ... I wish I had done it sooner. (Stupid wallet ....)

I had the Street/Strip and it worked out fine for me. I had about 330rwhp, now I have over 400 and a single turbo and replaced the disc with a ACT stage 3 unsprung 6 puck. I have much more confidence in the 6 puck. But my S/S still has plenty of life on it with just street driving only on the disc. Its organic so its just like the stock disc. The benefit of the Street strip clutch is only the added clamping force of the Pressure plate. The clutch disc will still glaze over and fail if its slipped on a hard launch. Doesnt matter if you have 330 or 500 hp. Of course it may slip under high HP applications without you slipping it with your foot but you get the idea. If I was very concerned with engagement I would go with the act Heavy Duty pressure plate and upgrade the disc to a kevlar or other type of high peformance compound. it doesnt need to be a Puck clutch. Actually for drivability you will want to stay away from puck clutched. Although I got used to my 6 puck in 3 days and can drive it in rush hour if I want. The engagement is a bit harsh and chatters alot when tryin to slip it in stop and go.

whats the clutch chatter? im lookin to get a ACT S/S clutch...and was planning on having my flywheel resurfaced. i was told any oreilly's could do this for me,is that true? also what is needed to install it, thanks
