Question AC Pressure Fluctuations

I just added some freon to my car and the gauge readings are fluctuating bewteen 30-40 psi. Is this normal or what is the problem. The car had leaked out all its freon and is on r134a.

What is the high side reading?

If the engine speed and heat load in the cabin are at a steady state, and the compressor isn't cycling on and off, then the pressures should stabilize.

Dont have the high side reading its just the low side. The pressure was checked at idle and the compresser is not cycling on and off. Its steady on.

It is really hard to even guess what might be going on without the high side reading. How is the cooling performance? Was this a factory R-134a car?

If you didnt evacuate the system you probley have air circulating in it and it wont compress like 134A causing it to fluctuate.

yup you either have air or humidity on the lines. flush the sistem with nitrogen. do a good vaccum on it and recharge.

Well I didn't vacuum it because I wanted to see if its going to hold pressure. Once it does I'll get it vacuumed and filled. Thanks for the help guys.
