<< and then have some money put aside for reliability mods. >>

at the risk of becoming a post *****, i just HAD to say LOOOOOL. SOME? some?? c'mon now...I dont know how, but my FD has and continues to cost me more than my income. It's like, "Got a lotta money and don't know how to get rid of it? oh i know...just buy an FD!."

If you want an FD, and have any inclinations of modifyin it, get ready cuz the bills will never end...

Thanks for all of the replies, go easy on nopistons for me he's a good guy : ) . Yea I talked to Wael on the phone last night and I am going to have him come up to inspect the car over with me again. He sounds like he is very informed and knowledgable on these cars. He will be a HUGE help for me.

FDNewbie, C'mon give me a break with the semantics--my advice is sound overall. My FD costs me nowhere near my income, and I suggest if it costs you more than you make get rid of it. I said I spent a grand on repairs immediately and I also put a couple of thousand into reliability immediately. Is that accurate enough. I then spend money I budget every six months for upgrades, that has been as little as a thousand and as much as four thousand. Is that better?

i recently bought a FD not long ago, and i have already spent quite a lot cost the engine needs a rebuilt, call me bad luck or careless when buying, i just want to say FD is such a nice car that there will only be 3 types of ppl who wants to sell it:

1) the car has problems, need to get it of it quickly.

2)ppl with lot of money who tell u he is getting a porche for his next car.

3)they have money problem and need to sell his car.

hope u get type 2 or type 3, where i get type 1.

but yes, i agreed, the bills never end after u bought a FD, but u'll love it.

Well I bought mine a few months ago and I hope it was reason number 3... But mine actually doesnt have the smothest idle. (and yes I am def a NEWBIE) But the car was heavy moded. Full exhaust, front mount intercooler, greddy elbow, apexi FC command, yada yada. but other than the funky idel it runs great and is VERY fast. Never in my life have I been content with the car I have. No matter what I pass on the road now I would never trade my RX7 for it!

LOL dawg...no reason to kirk out

i think your advice is sound...I only commented cuz I find it very humerous how people think ok yea a couple grand and I'll be straight... NOT w/ an FD. no way.

reliability mods aren't that expensive, you're right. but it's very very expensive to modify your FD for serious performance... not to mention repairing and replacing all the 10 yr old parts that break in the meantime...

so dont think i was tryin 2 bust your chops.. im just tryin to make sure ppl who don't have an FD know that it's a very VERY costly hobby that you just can't relate to unless you've had an rx7 before
