Can anyone please point me in the right direction for 99 Spec front end parts? I'd like to get these Mazda OEM parts from a reliable vendor...

I know you said genuine but you CAN cut the stock front rebar to work.

QFT, the rebar just has the proper shape for the combo lights and thats about it.

so you'd only need the bumper cover and lights and possibly harness adapter..... you can trim the rebar


its been too long since i helped my friend install his 99 front end so my memory is fuzzy

Thanks again, i was aware that just trimming the area where the new combo lights fit into will work, but other than that, is the rest of the rebar exactly the same?

^^Not exactly, the 99 rebar has an air guide and also has additional mounting points for the '99 undertray.

Having said that, I modified my original rebar to work on my FD back in like 2002 and on my dad's FD last year and have no regrets, and I do not cut corners on my car (at all).

Don't forget that to do it right you'll need the '99 brake ducts as well, and if you want proper oil cooler ducts Mazda never made them (I'm positive of this) so your only real options are authentic R-Magic from Japan or the Rotary Extreme replicas. They work extremely well btw.

Ok, so if i want to pull this 99 spec front end conversion the RIGHT way, i should order the following 99 spec parts:

1. bumper cover
2. rebar
3. combo lights
4. undertray
5. oil cooler ducts

I'm also getting the dual oil cooler setup from SakeBombGarage, any idea if these oil cooler ducts will clear this setup?

Also, about Mazda not making oil cooler ducts, what's this being offered by Corksport? Replicas? Aren't these both brake and oil cooler ducts?

Those are just brake ducts. They are not the oil cooler ducts. Rich is correct in R Magic being the only authentic option that works. I don't have any personal experience with the Rotary Extreme replicas, but I think Ben produces some quality pieces.

You may also want to contact 'Stubba' on this forum. He works with Maza Texas South and they are the only Mazda dealership in the US that carries 99-spec parts. They have always been extremely helpful and prices are competitive as well.

The fog lights also bolt right up to the 99 rebar, I think the mounting for the earlier versions is different.

mazda never made 'proper' oil cooler ducts. only R-magic did , aftermarket ones. Rotary extreme makes a nice replica.

brake ducts for 99 spec are slightly different than older ones due to different shape of intake and maybe some other differences

I knew I forgot something . I never liked the 99 fog lights so it wasn't an issue for me..... blocks air getting inside the bumper.

The '93-95 brake ducts are useless with the '99 front lip btw, they don't mate up at all, just like the '93-95 oil cooler ducts to the 99 front bumper openings.

Don't mean to threadjack but I have a few related questions as I am considering a conversion in the future as well. With the R-Magic oil cooler ducts, those would only work assuming you have the stock oil coolers or would they potentially work with aftermarket coolers?

Also, people who've done the conversion, do most of you paint the whole car at that time? I'm sure you could get away with paint matching and painting just the bumper, but honestly I think even still it would look much less than ideal.

I'm not planning on painting my entire car after i do this conversion (my paint is in really good condition all around), but i think with all the racing and driving we do, the front end will match the rest of the car's blemishes/fine/tiny scratches in no time lol...

I will claybar, wax and polish the car after i do this conversion though...

What about the mounting hardware, do i transfer those pieces over to the 99 spec front end or does it come with it already?
