My buddy has a 99 C5 with a clear title and around 60000 miles for 19950.00 and it is also a six speed. Solid car with great paint. He lives in east tennessee and shipping would probably be around 500 -700 depending upon who you use. This car is a steal at this price for more info and his number email me @ r8cn7s@aol.com. David

I've owned both a Supra and FD and have driven a few C5's so I know what I'm talking about:
So let me ask you this, can you afford to do some preventative maintaince on the RX-7? If yes, get the RX-7.
If you're tapped out after buying the RX-7 then you've bought the wrong car.
If it comes down to being a scaredy cat and you want to go with something, get the Supra. But be a patient buyer because the prices are ridiculous, get your loan ready so you can snap up that good one that always comes on the market when you don't expect it to.
Supra vs. C5? Who are you kidding? I raped C5s day in and day out in my Supra with just downpipe. When I upped the boost and added exhaust it wasn't even a fair race, the C5 is simply outclassed by the Supra.
Yes, the Supra is heavy and not as fun to drive, but that's not anything springs and some strut bars can't help. The engine? The Corvette's engine (LS1?) and 13B-REW are simply outclassed by the Supra's engine, they're not even in the same league as far as I am concerned. I went from a pretty heavily tuned FD to a Supra with basic bolt-ons and the Supra would have kicked it's ***.
Then again, I'm getting ready to buy another RX-7, so you know which car I think is superior.
If you want a car you don't have to worry about get the Supra, if you don't mind taking a little precaution get the RX-7. Corvettes are for insurance salesmen and 50 year old guys with gold chains. I have friends who have Corvettes and even they would probably admit to that.

I would personally like to get the NSX. I think there are too many people flooding the FD market now...
Here's a good example:

Yeah!
Thanks to all that have participated in this little exercise.
Special thanks to folks like Pressurized and DefBringer. I especially wanted to hear from owners of all the subject vehicles and I'm glad to hear that your final verdicts have been to stick with the 7 (and all the headaches).
Now that I have a truck and a house with a garage, I'll be able to take care of the car better than my other one, not to mention that I'm buying a very pampered car (and that I have more $$$ than before to continue to care for it).
I do believe that tomorrow morning I will be pulling the trigger on owning the '95 MB PEP! Here's to mental imbalances!
I guess I'll need to change the login (maybe AusTexRX?)....

it depends of how much you plan to mod the cars. Vettes are great but there are so many and I dont get too worked up about cars as common as the vette. I like my 7 but at the power level 450-500HP it breaks everything. A supra with similar power would be 20x more reliable. It comes at a price. You def get what you pay for. Its not just hype. If your a small guy any of the cars will work out as far as space. The Supra is a better fit for a big guy. The Vette is easy to get serviced the 7 is a voodoo only a select few can work on properly. I voted RX-7 because it best bang for the buck but the Supra is my Choice if all things were equal.

for like a year before i accually bought my rx7, i would change my mind about 4 or 5 times a week of what car i planned to buy. Then before i bought the car, i figured i would own the car till the loan was paid off then get a z06 or a viper. well now that i have the 7 i no longer wish to get any other cars, and z06s and vipers dont even impress me anymore. its all about the 7, i love everything about it. Just one thing you got to know is there is a very very very thin line between love and hate with this car. When you love the car, you LOVE the car and when you hate the car, you want to crash it into a wall or bury it in the middle of the dessert. (i know someone who has literally burried there car for insurance purposes by the way)

I haven't driven any corvettes, but they are really common (especially here in southern cali), but having driven an RX-7 daily, a stock supra, and the same car with over 400hp, I can say that the seven is still more fun. The supra pulls like a **** with just full exhaust, bcc, profec b, cam gears and a short shifter, but the seven is still more enjoyable to throw around. The supra is by far more reliable (in my experience) and easier to make lots of power, but it is still big and heavy. You really can feel the wheight of the thing in turns, it just isn't as nimble as the seven, even though the one I have driven has less then half the miles of the seven and better tires. Plus the supra interior is ugly. High quality, but the seats (98) aren't great, trunk space sucks, and visiblity is terrible. I don't know how tall you may be, but at 6'3", I fit pretty well in the seven and quite fine in the supra. Both seem less cramped then a viper GTS, for whatever its worth. The supra has a tilt steering wheel, the 2jz-gte, six speed, and possibly a targa top. The seven wheighs about 600lbs less, and you can really feel it. Sorry I kinda rambled on, but driving both back and forth, my preferences and tastes are always troubled over which is better, a 400hp+ supra, or an RX-7 with much less power. I say go for the seven. But thats just my opinion. Good luck, if you go for the 1995 MB. Josh

supra tooooooo damn heavy, same with Vette. i don't know about others, but i want Rare, Light, relative high HP(none too crazy), rear wheel drive. you see, i ain't too good with math and such, equation comes out to FD R1 or R2. of course i hate it when my FD creaks and pops, not a big fan of Turbo lag, but what can you do, u like it, u live with it. but would get it if it were yellow Z06 , never drove C5 before but Supra? damn, **** drives heavy.

I'm just under 6', by the way, so most two-seater cars work well for me. The RX gives me more leg room than my Tacoma!
And I definitely have experienced, honest, and friendly RX7 mechanics in Austin who worked on my previous one, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm 6'3" too, the RX-7 is a very tight fit. My next one will definitely have a smaller diameter steering wheel to allow more legspace. What Mazda engineers were thinking when making this car without a FRIGGING TILT STEERING wheel is beyond me .
The Supra? Hell...A 7' guy could fit in it...that seat just keeps going baaack and baaack. My brother had a 94 Prelude, that seat would go so far back I couldn't even touch the pedals.
BTW Corvettes are not heavy, 3200lbs is not heavy for a car of it's size, and especially for a newer design (most new cars are very heavy).

Supra for the reliability and modability rx7 for the fun, c5 in the trash.
a c5 vette unless a z06 is not in the same class as an rx7 or supra.
if i had a choice above all, i would take both the rx7 and the supra. they are both VERY FUN cars.

A nice turbo supra is an absolute ripoff
Corvettes are way too common and just because they are newer doesnt mean they are trouble free.. I work at a Chevrolet dealership and it seems like there are always C5s in there.
Have you seen the car and driver comparison test from ~97? They compare the 3000GT, supra, C5 and e36 BMW M3. The M3. I wouldnt pick the M3 just because it looks very un-exotic, but the M3 is considered the best then the C5 then the Supra and obviously dont waste your time with the 3000GT
Also, to help things, whats your price range? An NSX might be a good choice

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
I'd always go with the -7-. I checked out the latest edition of one of the big car mags..maybe C & D or maybe R & T or MT anyway...they compared all the trim models of the vettes and I was suprised that the regular C5's only pull .91 on the skid pad and that the Z06 pulls identical skid pad # 's to the 7 (.98). Kinda interesting.
My opinion (completely unbiased).
Pro's for the C5
--------------
sound --- few cars sound as good as a big V8.
n/a ----- it makes its power without turbos.
great all around car, does everything well
Pro's for the supra
--------------
Top end (if thats your thing).
Dyno queen (if thats your thing)
with a mere 350 HP to the wheels you can run the same ET as one with 700 to the wheels.
Reliability is amazing--bullet proof engine.
Pro's for the -7-.
Timeless design
a street legal go cart
razor sharp handling
unique and rare
Does Everything extremely well.
interior that feels like a fighter jet
Cons C5
as said by another forum member "its *** looks like it was designed at 4:45 on the friday before labor day weekend".
boring interior
its just another C5.
its not very original (David Hill, the designer admits to being influenced by the rx7 and some other japanese cars).
cons supra:
pretty much the same as the pros for the supra, except the styling is ugly from the front and back.
Cons Rx-7.
maintenance.

As someone who owned and drove a dirt go-cart while growing up in West Texas, I really appreciate that street-legal go-cart comment.
I can't wait to get this car in my hands! I should have it soon....
