6 x 9 door speakers

i was wondering if anyone has tried to custom make a bracket to fit a 6x9 in the door . i took my bose unit out today and realized the hole should be big enough. so if anyone has experience w/ this let me know. also if you have one of the non bose brackets for the 6 1/2 can someone send me a pic, or maybe a traced outline of what bolts to the door. any help would be great thanks

If you like Pioneer speakers, they make a 6x8 that fits perfectly. I know there's a couple of other brands that make them too (Blaupunkt, I can't remember who else).

EDIT:

Oops, I just re-read and realized that you want to put a 6x9 in the DOOR, not side panel. I don't think a 6x9 would fit, especially depth-wise, which is the real problem.

well i have done some research and found that a pioneer 6x9 is 3 3/8 in deep which is not quite as deep as the stock bose speaker w/ its huge magnet for a 4 inch speaker. so i dont think depth will be a big problem, just have to be precise w/ the design, but i think it will work. i just need to see if anyone has made the bracket to fit a 6x9. or maybe done some cutting and molding w/ the bose box to fit anything else.
HELP

if you have the whole bose system, then you have 4 inch speakers in the door w/ a huge box that they fit in and an amp. you odnt have any rear speakers besides the bose wave thing in the trunk. you have to take all that out and the head units and throw them in the trash or sell them. you have to get the pods from mazda or find someone selling them. you have to buy some 6 1/2 inch speakers for the front, and 5x8's for the back then you have to get the head unit of your choice wire it all and then get the sub of your choice to equal out the sound get an amp to power that and wire the whole thing and you should be good to go. im just trying to get a 6x9 in teh door instead of the 6 1/2

You should go with 6.5" component speakers with separate tweeter that you can mount high on the door panel. You'll get much better sound imaging!

I have 6.5 mb's in the front with the tweeters right next to the speaker and it sucks. The rear 6x9 mbs are great but the way i drive my leg is blocking off the sound from the drivers side door panel. I didn't want to cut a whole in my door panel for the tweeters, but may i will have to. I had the same stero combo in my other car and it sounded way better than in the RX. This is just my experience with my car.
