3rd Gen section Technical/Troubleshooting & Non-Technical sections?
#26
It probably has been discussed before, but if a strictly technical section is started, is it possible to allow the mods to amend the wording in the titles? If someone could make sure that certain key words are included (and spelled correctly), it would make it alot easier and quicker to search....and ultimately fewer redundant threads?

Ramy - As usual your right on! I find myself spending much less time on the forum as of late, primarilly due to the obviously broken search button on this forum .
BTW - Jimlab for president! LOL

FYI we are a long way off from creating another 3rd gen section. Long way.
For reference, the 2nd gen section simply keeps it technical.
One solution would be to choose another section for the non-tech talk (say, gen automotive), and put some indication of the type of car "(FD)..." in the title.

Some of you weren't around, and some of you have forgotten but we did have an "Advanced" section here before. Yes, it didn't work which is why it's not here today.
The best thing people can do is "REPORT" threads that need to be moved or closed. There is a little button (which is on the bottom left of the posts with the default forum layout) that will email a message to the moderators. There are a lot of threads in this section so sometimes a moderator will miss one. If you report it, it will email them a link to the thread where they won't miss it.
Also, don't keep posting in threads that you don't like. The more you post in them the more they stay on the front page of the section. I see "newbie" threads that stay on the front page because people have to add useless comments instead of just ignoring the thread. Think about it this way, if you aren't going to offer something constructive on the thread, don't waste your time by adding a post to it. All you are doing is keeping a thread you don't like bumped to the front of the section.
Guys, you don't realize it, but even as non-moderators YOU can make this section what YOU want it to be just by your own actions.

The reporting feature is underutilized, especially since the mods can't read every post all of the time. It's ok by me to report a post when a thread has gone off-topic, inappropriate, or simply is out of place.
If a thread is annoying and needs closed, please don't do the IBTL stuff. It might be funny in the Lounge, but it does just bump the thread. Report it instead, and it won't get bumped at all.
