It probably has been discussed before, but if a strictly technical section is started, is it possible to allow the mods to amend the wording in the titles? If someone could make sure that certain key words are included (and spelled correctly), it would make it alot easier and quicker to search....and ultimately fewer redundant threads?

Ramy - As usual your right on! I find myself spending much less time on the forum as of late, primarilly due to the obviously broken search button on this forum .

BTW - Jimlab for president! LOL

That is an awesome suggestion. A lot of the trouble with searching is that sometimes a lot of slang is used, or things are mispelled, etc. If you don't know the EXACT phrase to search for it can become quite tiring trying to find information. Just figured i'd highlight this suggestion again as I think it could greatly benefit a tech forum .

FYI we are a long way off from creating another 3rd gen section. Long way.

For reference, the 2nd gen section simply keeps it technical.

One solution would be to choose another section for the non-tech talk (say, gen automotive), and put some indication of the type of car "(FD)..." in the title.

I have a question:

If the mods delete my "I overboosted to 23 psi thread" will my engine come back to life?

Well we can start by deleting redundant stickies to make more room for new posts:

I would love to see a tech and non-tech subsection in the 3rd gen forum...but I doubt it will happen. Good idea though Ramy!

Not sure; I don't check PMs very often, as emails take enough time as it is. I did email AND PM you a while back though but have yet to get a response. How ironic LOL.

I think some of the vets wanted a special section couple of times in the past (2 years ago?).. but got rejected. Now if you want to find out about 3rd gen specific tech threads, you would have to go somewhere else.. ie, suspension sub forum, single turbo sub forum, etc... And still have to read BS posts made by "newbs"... LOL! I for one definitely interested in VIP section or any sections where same topic hasn't been posted over and over!! I'm just curious, if anyone else here have searched a topic and got 75% garbage and 25% useful?? I think that ratio is getting worse everything I tried to find something on this forum...

Some of you weren't around, and some of you have forgotten but we did have an "Advanced" section here before. Yes, it didn't work which is why it's not here today.

The best thing people can do is "REPORT" threads that need to be moved or closed. There is a little button (which is on the bottom left of the posts with the default forum layout) that will email a message to the moderators. There are a lot of threads in this section so sometimes a moderator will miss one. If you report it, it will email them a link to the thread where they won't miss it.

Also, don't keep posting in threads that you don't like. The more you post in them the more they stay on the front page of the section. I see "newbie" threads that stay on the front page because people have to add useless comments instead of just ignoring the thread. Think about it this way, if you aren't going to offer something constructive on the thread, don't waste your time by adding a post to it. All you are doing is keeping a thread you don't like bumped to the front of the section.

Guys, you don't realize it, but even as non-moderators YOU can make this section what YOU want it to be just by your own actions.

No one also reported them asking to be closed or moved either. And I know as I still get the emails.

As usual Mahjik has some very useful suggestions.

The reporting feature is underutilized, especially since the mods can't read every post all of the time. It's ok by me to report a post when a thread has gone off-topic, inappropriate, or simply is out of place.

If a thread is annoying and needs closed, please don't do the IBTL stuff. It might be funny in the Lounge, but it does just bump the thread. Report it instead, and it won't get bumped at all.

Dave
