3rd gear hesitation at 6k rpm?

I wasnt sure wether to post in 2nd or 3rd gen as I have a 13b-re tt in a second gen car, not sure if its motor or driveline. I ll explain my problem.
I have no problem hitting high rpm in 1, 2, 4, 5. But in 3rd gear always around 5.5k rpm to 6k rpm it will feel like it stops dead in its tracks, almost like a cut. If i give it less then wot then it is okay.
I run a 12-10-12 boost pattern and only get a max knock reading off the apexi of about 30.
Anybody have any ideas as to whats going on or can point me in a better diagnostic direction? thanks in advance.
