Unhappy 2nd Turbo not kicking in sometimes.

First the first time since new (yes, I'm the original owner)...my baby is having some problems. Literally, this would be the first time for an unscheduled trip to the dealer other than a recall or two). More often than not, the second turbo no longer kicks in at high RPMS like it used to. :*( Any thoughts? She is 100% stock...and babied/loved.

The secondary turbo is actuated by either vacuum or boost (two separate systems). Sounds like you have lost (probably) the pressure side of the system. Look for blown off hoses or cracked check valves under the UIM. The tank which holds pressure is the black one sitting on top right in front of the UIM. You may want to throw a boost gauge on it and see if it is holding pressure.

Mine did this for a while - turns out I had a bad check valve.

Good luck.

check out this site

http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm

it has helped me out a lot and have recommended using it many times on this forum. also get your hands on a vacuum diagram. atkins sells one that is enlarged and is really helpful.

I would check if all vacuum lines are connected, check valves, and also check out if the clip on the turbo actuator came off. good luck!!

A lot of secondary turbo problems come around when the turbo control valve located by the air control valve under the UIM(Upper Intake Manifold) goes out... I would have them start looking there... Good luck vacuum problems with these cars are never fun...

But do NOT let them convince you that "the turbos are bad". Lack of boost is almost always the result of solenoid and vacuum line issues.

Dood luck,
