Sorry.
It just really cracks me up. Sorry

Just because a 3 rotor SOUNDS like a V12, doesn't mean that it's LIKE a V12. If you want to get technical about it, since a 20b has 3 faces per rotor. 3x3=9 so it makes it more like a 9 cylinder engine, but most of know we really can't compare it to a boinger since our combustion is continous. How many 9 cylinder engines have you seen?

The 1 million dollar F1 doesnt even have the specs you are looking for. What you will need will be either:
A)Big torquey engine (To get you through the 1/4 fast) with SUPER tall gearing (3.00 and under to get you your top speed)
B)Smaller super high revving engine (to get you your top speed) with lower gears (4.00 and up to get you a lower 1/4 time)
C)Find a drivetrain somewhere inbetween if you are able to make the FDs body even MORE aerodynamic and begin conducting wind tunnels tests to see which body kit will give you the MOST downforce to keep your *** planted on the pavement at those speeds.

Good luck and may the force be with you

Hey Ryan, you gonna be at Sebring on August 11th? I forget, do you instruct? Maybe we can hook up as I need to graduate from "novice" status.......

a 3 rotor is more like a v8 and not a v12, a 26b or 4 rotor woudl be equevalent to a v12. there is no need to spend that much money and get a 3 rotor to do 10s other then if you want it to be more reliable because a 2 rotor that comes with fd stock can do those same 10s for you. and pleae go test drive a stock FD first and/or have someone give you a ride in their "stage 3" FD.

You might have top speed of like 160 with that gearing at the most, definately not close to 245... If you want top speed you have to go the other way with gearing.

Please drive the car first because I don't know if you'll be able to handle the horsepower it has now off the bat.

550hp + 2800lb car with newbie inside = car wrapped around tree

And do you realize how much money + engineering it would take to get the car to 245mph if you could?

How old are you?

Yea you are aiming really high.. The only prob is you are lying about things you dont have in the process.. So do you actually have a 94 silver FD or do you just say you do b/c you saw one for sale on the forum?? One more thing.. Your joining the marines and they are giving you a 24k bonus?? How does this work out? So first you tell the guy selling the 94 silver FD that you dont have enough money to buy a 21k FD then you all of a sudden have a 24k bonus for a car.. Not to mention the other 40k to get your susposadly 2nd FD.. Why dont you maybe keep your story straight, and tell us what is the truth.. Im sure im not the only one that would like to hear what is true..

[rant]

we get it, but i dont think you do... i seriously wish that you never get and FD, it would be a short relationship, with one or both of you ending up dead. HOWEVER, if you did get one, you would realize that the FD is a "bad *** car" in completely stock form. there is no need to spend 40k to have a top speed that you will never be able to reach except at Bonneville (sp?)... you sound like the type of kid that would say you had a 300mph top speed even if you bought a Honda just to have "bragging rights" and look cool to all the 13 year olds you hang out with because you cant get friends your own age.

I didn't mean to offend any one 18 or even 16 with a good head on their shoulders but this kid obviously doesn't have a good head on his shoulders and doesn't understand that:

a.) as someone else said he'll never reach 245 on a public road, he'd have to go to bonneville(sp?)..

b.) Racing beat had a 800hp 3 rotor in a pure race car and hit around 243(I think) in a pure race car(stripped everything, car sat lower then low and was very aero dynamic) on the salt flats.

I dont remember talking to anyone about a silver FD.
My girl was going to get mine for me. (Dont ask why)
And it was the Montego Blue one they had on eBay for 16,500. She wasnt able to make it so i had to give it up because he had to sell it immediately.

I'm 18, I'm going into the Navy. And i got a 6,000 dollar bonus. The first year i'd made 24,000 because i'd be in boot camp and then school. No actual work yet.

And the reason i'm getting the 20B is because it is close to where i live and its the only one i've seen that was in good shape.

I dont have to have on that runs that fast, Or even close. But i did hear Petit racing or whatever has a 3 rotor conversion that they said could go 245 but they never got there because it scared them. And that was stock with the few basic installs to make room and support for the engine.

And besides. People keep saying they hope i never get one because i'd kill myself in it because i'm a newbie. But put it this way, by the time i afford the mods to make it go even close to that fast, i'll be fairly experienced in driving the car. I plan to keep the car 20B if i'm able to get it. Not really gonna mod it farther than that. I'm just curious to what it would take it make it run that fast. Give me a break.

I'm gonna work on the appearance more than anything and use it in car shows, etc.

And besides that. If u have a car that has the mods to go that fast. Wouldnt it make the car run better at lower speeds ??

I mean ****, i came here to learn and people wanna give me a hard time about it. The better people on this forum are telling me different things to use as advice because they know what it was like to be 18 and want an FD. Everyone else just wants to be ******** about it.

Yeh guys. Give the ******* guy a break. He's new to performance automobiles. So what? Instead of busting his ***** so god-damned hard you could be giving him links to sites that would help educate him about the subject. Some of you guys act like 8 year olds when it comes to stuff like this. Grow up.

ExcelR8, I'm going to try and put this as simple as I can. To get a 20B over 240mph, you would probably need a very extravigant T/C set-up(twin T66's or something) and crazy, un-streetable aero-gear. To get it to be a 10 second drag car wouldn't be as hard, but to get it to do both would be a very difficult challenge. I suggest you read over www.scuderiaciriani.com and try to learn as much from that site as possible. You could also check out www.3rotor.com for info on the 20b. My advice to you, do a whole load of research on this car before you jump into the rotor world. Also, take it easy on whatever you get until you're SURE you've got the hang of it. Remember the first time you thought you could drink 10 beers in 1 hour? Of course you wouldn't because you were knocked out, lying in your own throw up. Just like anything new, take it easy in the beginning or it'll bite you in the ***. Good luck.

I'll probably be there the 10th and the 11th. Not sure if I'll instruct yet or not. I'll just wait and see if I'm needed. There's a Ferrari club driving school this Friday, and I MIGHT instruct that, but who knows yet. I'll probably be out there though, so I'll look for you.

okay ill try and be a little nicer seeing that afterall you are just trying to learn about rx7's..

But lets be a little realistic...If you want a really really fast car and just really concerned with strightline speed then rx7's shouldnt be looked upon...I would suggest a LS1 powered F body/vette or a Supra TT....

Rx7's can only be appreciated by rx7 enthusisat or driving enthusisat's cuz lets face it...The cars arent the fastest thing on the road by far, they dont make huge numbers on the dyno, they are unreliable without proper care (and even with in some cases)...So you see it takes a true rx7 guy to put up with them...Cuz for us there really are extremely few cars that can put a bigger smile on our faces when driving them...

So my advice to you is the following...

Reasearch long and hard make sure you hear all the horror stories and the maintainace that you have to perform in order to own one...Basicly spend a good 2-3 months time looking up on rx7's...Then after all of that decide if u really wanna buy one

I basicly want a street legal FD running atleast a 10 in the quarter
ray's PFS sponsered car is street legal i believe and he has run the fastest time of a 10.2 i believe. i just wanted to point something out, a smaller snag out of the rediculas assumptions you have made. you realize that a 20B powered FD will NEVER be technically street legal in america since that engine was never available in a car here. sure it would be easy to get around in most areas but its wouldnt really be street legal... specially since to have the power you are suggesting you would want you couldnt run a cat.

hahaha very nicely put. I dont know why this kids being taken seriously at all, he sounds like one of the over zealous 13 year old kids that live acrss the street. First he posted on having a 93, then a 94 and now wanting a 20B FD.
If you came here to learn, dont run around the forum saying you have this and that when you dont have anything in your possesion resembling an RX7 and then talk to others like we dont understand you're lying.

I'm not gonna upgrade it that much.
But for those of you who said it wasnt possible to have a car run that fast and still run good times in the quarter. Read this, I got it from Pettit Racing.Com:

-----------

Pettit Racing in Fort Lauderdale, FL, has created the Banzai RX-7. Dispatching the quarter mile in a scant 11.4 seconds at over 126 mph, a driver is just at the first half of the Banzai's performance envelope: top speed is estimated at 240 mph ......

...... knowledge to create a street-legal "Road Warrior" - as he calls it - capable of blowing the doors off supercars costing nearly twice as much. He does it with a turbocharged, 3-rotor conversion.

I may get flamed for this but..

Going 240 mph and estimating the car goes 240 mph are two different things. Did they say what they had the car up to(mph?) before they got scared?

No doubt just about any 20B car is badass but I doubt it's ability with out major changes to go over 200 mph much less 240 mph..

They didnt mention any other changes other than theier conversion. They call it the Bonzai or something like that. Go to pettitracing.com and click on the link Bonzai and see for yourself. I heard for someone that they got it to over 220 before they got scared.

why would u wanna go THAT fast? i don't think u can do 240 on any highway.. unless u got some ******* huge ballz. If this is ur First sports car or RWD car.. do ur self a favor and get something slower car... so u can stay alive and not killing anyother drivers on road.
u can make 11s easily with 13b + single set up.

Didnt i say i wasnt going to make it go that fast ..
I dont need it that fast. I'm not even going to race it.

But there were alot of people saying it was practically impossible to do it, so i posted that to prove them wrong.
