go Jack!! go Jack!! sick em'. Happens all too often doesn't it? Hey I got something for you to think about. Your friend the one that makes $1200 per week, how many doubles does he do in one week, that is hard on a person, trust me I know. Also I used to work in Beverly Hills at a very busy restuarant, you can't get richer clients than that, also richer people are worse tippers cause they don't value what you do.yeah you can make $300 bucks a day, but what are gonna do and say when you make $30. It happens. Get a more dependable job before you consider bumpin' around in one of these cars. its good advice and make your own decisions, this ain't I-Robot. Right Jack?

your right, thats why i can always go back to the bank, and im not that good I lied in my interviews and only talked about my bank jobs but my friends are teachin me the tricks.

Im just scared of this little girl boggin down on me, or not starting. Audis havent had that many problems like that.
No worries man, thanks for the condolences. IMHO, the FD is one of the prettiest, most capable street cars ever made. Especially in its price range. Others have mentioned the cost; that's somethign to keep in mind, in addition to the downtime that you WILL have to endure. Not to mention trying to find someone who understands the car and all of its little quirks. That's where you have to do your homework.

Sure it's touchy, high maintainence, and twitchy at the limit, but it's also absolutely gorgoeous (STOCK body) and pretty damn rare. I see one out of every 1000 cars on the road (estimate), max. I stand firm in that this car is teh ****

cantgostraight and the other guy.

I like the Fd more than the audi. I LOVE THE FD -what "stupid questions " are to you , is irrelevant to me, bc i value your answers, because you own the car. now stop bein dicks

yes the a4 is absolutely whack in its stock form. Old ladies drive it.

screw my avatar. i put that up when i wanted to sell rims on here before.

the difference between the V6 and V8 is more like 10 grand on the A6, but that is besides the point.

if i were 19 again and had to drive 1 car everyday I would definately choose a 2000 A4 over the FD. I love the FD as much as the next guy but the Audi is on a whole different level. Ive had my FD for 4 years and during that time my parents have always had an audi or three around for me to drive. Although the FD is a pure sports car the audis are smooth as can be on these shitty jersey roads, and awesome in the snow. The audi may get a little boring for you, but i think you would get tired of driving a sports car every day especially a modded one.

it's certainly possible to make large amounts of money as a waiter. I know guys here who make around 150 in a night. The 300 though, what state do you live in?

I think that the reason everyone's talking so much trash is because of the car you picked for comparison. If it were a C6 Z06 or Audi RS4 your probably wouldn't get so much flak g/l with your choice.

EDIT: is it an Audi RS6?

maybe i should get the fd when i can really afford one.

hey its cool. what cantgostraight and I are saying is why can't people just read the FAQ and make decisions for themselves. There are a lot of threads like this. Just do what you like is what we are saying, don't get madd! we were just having fun. good luck

you seem to be a sensible person, your own advice is good advice to take. listen to your gut and your pocket.

I have both an FD and a 2000 A4 1.8T Quattro. Love both cars, but they both have their achilles heel.

The 1.8T engine is known to have oil sludging problems if synthetic oil is not used, and the oil change intervals are above 5k miles. When purchasing one, you should make sure the correct oil was used in the car, and look for one with an impeccable and well documented service history. Audi has extended the oil sludging warranty to 8 years, unlimited miles, after recognizing the problem. If you plan on modding a 1.8T, you should use, and change, Mobil1 oil every 3k miles.

Audi's have poor build quality and poor engineering. I owned a fully loaded 99 A6 for 5 years and it was an absolute piece of crap after a few years and 50,000+ miles. It's a great car for daily driving when new and only while under FULL warranty. After about year three everything goes to hell, sensors fail, rotors warp, windows stop working, headlights screw up. I could go on for two pages.

FD's were no champ on build quality either but I'll never buy another german car ever again. A buddy that's been a mechanic at a local Mercedes dealer for about 10 years says they break down constantly and are now plagued by software problems. Apparently BMWs are even worse. He said he always hears customers complaining, "My Lexus never does that." After going through Consumer Reports it seems that he's right. Almost all the german cars have poor ratings once they've been on the road long enough to report problems, 3 or 4 years. 99-00 Audi's are one of the worst you can find in consumer reports, they're even listed as one of the cars to avoid buying used.

Neecless to say after living the reality of Audi I went through Consumer Reports before deciding on a Lexus and I couldn't be happier.

Well if nothing else I'm getting my post count up, if you really value our opinion then why didn't you read the FAQ's, and post for newbies before comming in here and posting this "stupid" question. Everyone in here has an opinion and will voice it for anything from engine combination to interior selection, Obviously you have an opinion (you thinks Sonic's7 and I are dicks) when you were just too lazy to read the already posted bunch of threads just like the one you started. So wear the pink socks tomorrow and things will be good.

anyway, i'm sure everyones ranted about the FDs reliability issues. thats basically the only con - reliability. also its a 2 seater, if you want to haul your friends, get the audi.

that said, I'm 19, does that default me to not being able to afford an FD?

by the way, I am a certified network administrator, working for a large law firm in philly.

Wow deja vu, I own a FD and I just test drove a 99' Audi A4 1.8t Quattro. I was gonna get it as a daily driver. But then I read this http://www.carsurvey.org/modelyear_Audi_A4_1999.html and thought to my self i already have one high maintenance car I really don’t need two. I wanted an Audi for a long time and I loved how the A4 felt. Cornered almost as good as my 7. I guess it was probably the German engineering. But I wouldn’t choose an Audi and a FD as my two cars because if they are both in the shop what are you gonna drive? So I will probably buy a Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus. I just wish one of them made a AWD Sedan. Cuz I live in North Dakota. I would get the FD and something more reliable.

wanna hear something funny?

I have 812 posts on Audizine.com forums, 454 Posts on Audiworld.com forums. I know more about Audi upgrades and parts and everything than most people that own them. (you can check, same sn on those forums)

Someone wise once told me on probetalk.com , its not how often you post, its what you post.
