Im 19, have a Jspec Probe Gt, with engine swap, etc , lots of mods , yea yea yea, i blew that engine. the car is worth nothin now. (just the fd rims i have are worth sumthin)

im gonna keep it as a project car / extra car that i can slap the dealer plates onto.

I just got a job as a waiter at PF Changs rest. which is supposed to bring me a lot of money, hopefully. i moved there from Chase bank, which is hard long hours for less pay than a waiter.

Anyway, The Rx7 has been my dream car ever since I was 7 or 8 back when she first came out. ( enter- movie - "Fast getaway and #2) remember! the red fd!

I was going to buy one until i found out about the Audi a4. (B5 1997-2001)This thing just swept me off my feet (modded versions)

Very appealing , quattro, luxurious, and decently quick w/ a few upgrades- and a new and upcoming aftermarket support.

Im a car dealer. I can get the A4 For about 8-9k (2000) w/ decent mileage. But, the Fd's at the auction are still upward of 9k. One just went for 9100 and was labeled above average condition. The problem is that they are hard to find at the dealers auctions and i cant afford them retail price. (same w/ the audi)

id aim for a 94 bc minor adjustments were made to them.

Maintenance

A4
- over 60k- Needs new timing belt! (600 w/ installation)
-needs new control arms (200 + install)
-needs synthetic ( i was goin for it anyway)
-needs to run 93 (would do it anyway , same w/ fd)
-stock 150hp , hahahaa chip- 200hp ($300)
k04 turbo 240 awhp -- t3 t4 w/ custom software 268 awhp.

Rx7

- shitting bricks when you first get it ! dont know whats gonna go!
- needs silicone vac lines (2-300)
- leaks
- inspection
- realiability???? how many rotaries broke down??? / blown???
- bad turbos?

if im missing any issues on the fd please fill me in

I am sorry but you are not going to get anywhere with this type of thread. Most of us love our FD's, regardless of what you wrote. Why don't you make up your own mind? I personally think audi's are . Have fun.

I worked in the restuarant biz all my life mostly bartending which unless your an ediot,

this Pf changs is in a great area. Rich people in weehawken Nj. packed all the time and on weeknights.

I worked in Chase bank and commerce bank and have a few thousand in the bank.

The Audi and the FD are VERY different cars. Want a nice daily driver? Get the Audi. Want a real sports car? Get the FD.

yea waiter is a...hmmm...shitty job i guess. but i probably dont make much better money, if at all and i have two rx7s. i get by i guess, but i have to say if i could go back i would think a lot harder about getting this car. but it IS possible to have one bein poor!

and i also work for an auction, and in the year i been there all ive seen is 1 3rd gen, auto bb 93. i have no idea what it got. i was late because i was walking in, by where the dealers who put up cars stuff comes in and i see it and i was like, wtf is that miata? (my veiw was obstructed) then i was like AHHHH WTF?? it was pretty beat up and had 114k on it. still cool. i also seen 1 89 vert go through.

 

you know, i thought a waiter was a shitty job, until I saw my friends makin 300 more or less per night, 4 nights in a row.

My one friend makes almost $1k a week workin 4 days and hes 19

when i was in the bank, i wanted to leave and become a waiter bc of the money . what else is there ?

anyway im really at a shitty point in my life and need a car to cheer me up

As for waiting tables and paying for nice cars.... dude, it's NOT a good idea. In my opinion, waiters are among the most disposable people in the workforce--even if you're REALLY good. I know this firsthand.

If it was my choice I'd go with the 67 VW van, but then again I doubt you guy's would agree with me, just because automatics aren't sports cars and the Audi is for people who can't afford the mercedes or was it the pontiac is for people who can't afford the cadillac......oh I can't make up my mind ? ? ? /can you guy's help me decide on which car should kill my wallet and destroy my life so I'll have someone to blame.

Actually , Audis are just a better value than MB's. (which are overpriced), not for ppl that cant afford them.

Mercedes offer how many engine varieties? not too many audi has 2 per car on the line, plus quattro standard on everything besides the A4, *you can hardly find a Fwd A4

I actually studied the A4 more than the Fd, thats why im asking you guys first hand.

Mb offers not too many engine varieties? wrong... not to mention the AMG versions.

If you are having trouble deciding the FD or a A4(S4 is much better comparison, and thats still giving it too much credit), the RX-7 is not a car for you, BTW be prepared to spend about at least 13k on a decent FD or more if you got a bad one.

 

I knew someone was gonna mention something about AMG. i failed to mention it , but they are not model line selections, they are upgraded versions.

a typical engine choice would be the a6 3.0 or 4.2 , with 1k or so seperating the 2 , not E class , and Amg versions, having how much between the two?

But who cares. im lookin for help, not an arguement.
