13psi on stock twins

Just a quick poll, Im still running the stock twins at 10psi but plan to bump it up to 13psi in a few days and plan to upgrade to the BNR stage 3's, how long do you guys think the stockers will last at a steady 13psi ?

Should be alright. It will decrease the life of your turbos a decent amount, 12 PSI might be a better number though assuming you have all the goodies to support 12-13 PSI.

I'm confused, are you asking how long the stock twins will last at 13 psi or how long the BNR Stage 3 twins will last at 13 psi?

Additional questions:

*Do you have the proper mods to support higher boost?

*Why worry about turbo life? If you are daily driving, set the boost to 10 psi. There's no point in running 13 psi for daily use. Use the 13 psi setting for the weekends or fun driving. I doubt that kind of use has a drastic effect on turbo longevity.

If you are not daily driving and only drive the car on weekends or for fun, who cares? For that kind of driving, you're racking up less than 10k miles a year and who cares if the turbos only make it 50k miles. Just my 2 cents.

Yea thats just it, Its not a daily driving car its more or less on the weekends, but I wanted to get some opinions on if the turbos would last 3.5months at 13psi just through the summer...

You aren't going to blow your turbos out in 2-3 months from 13 PSI. Granted, anything over stock is going to decrease the life of the turbos but as long as you take care of the car they will last quite a while. I know people who have been running 15 PSI on the stockers for years without them going out. It's all in the care of the car.

I ran 13psi all the time daily driven for well over a year and even then the turbos were still fine.

What are your supporting mods??? You need a ecu upgrade of some kind

what kind of care is involved as far as the turbos are concerned? i mean other than proper cool down after driving, what else can you do to make sure the turbos last long?

Run synthetic oil, it's much better on the turbos than mineral oil.

That statement is not an invitation to start the whole mineral vs synthetic debate....

I've run 13+ psi on my stock turbos for over 50K miles. I ran 12 psi for some 30K miles before that. I now have 116K on the stock turbos. Of course, my o-rings failed at 78K miles. So, the engine will go before the turbos as long as you take care of them, cool-down and/or run synthetic oil.

I'm with him also, I have been running 13psi for well over a year on my car with no problems with the stock turbos yet. Its not really a daily driver car though, I have only put about 9K miles on it in the past 2 years.

quick question to go with the 13 psi question, what kind of hp gain can you expect from 13 psi over 10 psi on a stock motor?
