Installing the 20B into an RX7 usually requires fabricating/installing a new subframe for the front end so that the steering rack does not need to be moved, hence the cost. Most major RX7 tuners have experience making the switch.
The key enhancement the 20B provides is higher torque values than the 13B.

From what little I know, when you port your motor you increase the size of the port, which means more air flow.
A street port doesnt increase the port size as much as a race port.
I think...?
Sphinx.

There is an awesome website about the different kinds of ports. I think it is an Australian site. Unfortunately, I don't know the url, and don't feel like searching, but it shouldn't be too hard to find if you really want to know the answer to your question.

porting an engine is similar to installing bigger cams on a piston engine. if u increase the top side of the port, its similar to adding duration, if u increase the bottom of the port, its like increasing lift. in either instance, as well as just making it overall bigger, the port flows more air, so it increases your volumetric efficiency. it makes the idle a little lumpier. (like a big cam) depending on the port, it can decrease low end power, wile increasing top end power. just my .02
