Talking 13 B REW to 13 B RE CONVERSION

I have a jdm 13b re motor new rebuild for my 93 rx-7. I am wondering if anyone has done this conversion. I was told it was a fairly simple swap but I have found this to be untrue. the brackets, hoses, intake, and exuast are all diffrent. I am having to strip it to the bare block and use my old top half on the re block. Does anyone else have any input on this or suggestions.

I did not have the re wiring harnness or ecu. It probley would have been easier but the header is still diffrent.

Thanks for any help, Joe

I could be wrong, but I think as far as the motor, stock for stock anyway, the 13b-rew is the best performer out of the 13b series. Why are you wanting to swap it? I would just sell the motor and buy a 13b-rew so you don't have to screw with "making" it work.
Unless you have some crazy port that can't be reproduced in a 13b-rew.....

the actual "w" only denotes twin turbo.

but only fd's and jc cosmos come with rew's which do have better ports, and is generally just a better engine, why replace your fd's engine with a fc engine?

if its the 13b re motor from the cosmo it is a better performing motor. it has much larger ports. the swap is not easy. Michel and Van both have done this swap.

It would be a better idea just to port the 13B-REW engine to make up for it.

The (90-95) JC13B-REW has larger ports compared to the (92-02) FD 13B-REW. The intake design of the JC 13B-REW gives better lower end performance too.

Popular conversion but you have to be aware of the different mounting points between the Cosmo & Rx-7

IT IS A COSMO ENGINE AND YES THE PORTS ARE MUCH LARGER. YES THE CONVERSION HAS BEEN DIFFICULT. WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE DIFFRENT MOUNTING POINTS?

THANKS, JOE

Rebuild the motor using an FD rear plate. Plug up the motor mounts on the stock Cosmo intermediate plate. Port the FD rear plate to match the cosmo intake. Assemble engine and install.
