I don't know what you mean by the term "boost tap".
For now, unplug your wastegate and precontrol solenoid electrical connectors. That should disable them and put you down to 8psi. If it does get about 8psi, then a boost controller will solve your problem. Keep them unplugged until you install the boost controller.

That is one method. I bought two manual boost controllers, one for the precontrol and one for the wastegate and installed them as you describe. Make sure to cap off the other end of those actuators and use something better than a parts-store vacuum cap or else they will leak and overboost in short order.

Just wondering will unplugging these cause any damage? or effect the turbos spooling up? Also will the warning check light come on?

Ok so this thread has gone a little off topic... but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's helped on this one! All crystal clear now, boost controller on the way!
