1200cc injector install

installing a pair of 1200cc injectors soon.....wondering if anyone has any tips or info

what i know so far:

depressurize fuel system (short some wires - have to search around to find out exactly which)
loosen 2 screws holding the injector in
wiggle it out from the o-ring seal
put new one in
tighten screws
pressurize system and visually check for leaks

is there a better way to check for leaks or to prevent them?? i dont want to have leaking fuel and risk an engine fire.

thanks

Not quite that easy

To depresserize your fuel system you pull the green relay from the box next to the L/H shock tower.
That, in it's self, is a bitch! There is no room to grab it & the case is made from egg shell thin plastic!!!
Start the car & it will die after a bit, (runs out of gas).

Pull the upper intake manifold & remove the screws holding the secondary injector retaining caps. Pull the wire connectors off the injectors

Now the real fun begins.
Try to remove the injectors, without ******* them up.
You can grab the head with channel lock pliers, try prying under the head with a screw driver, twist & tug, whatever.

I pulled the fuel rail & tried to push them out from the bottom. All I did was crack one of the nozzel caps! Mine felt like they were welded in.

Buy new O-rings from MazdaTrix or the dealer. Don't try any generic O-rings from the injector shop or autoparts store.
TRUST ME, they will leak & you will be taking everything apart, again & again!!!! They look the same, but are a mm or two smaller.

Good Luck

If you need to use a little penetrating fluid and twist them out...

I just removed my two primary injectors last night, and it is a BITCH and a half! I have the whole fuel rail system out of the car, so its a little easier. I ended up spraying WD-40 around the top of it, let it sit for a couple hours, and they still wouldn't come out. I had to twist and pull really hard, and pry a little with a screwdriver without screwing it up. It took me about 30 minutes to get the two injectors out, and my hands aren't feeling to good today.

I don't think I would have been able to remove them while the fuel rails were still bolted to the engine.

Now I have to remove the secondaries...

Rotary93 was right. The secondaries came out a lot easier. I sprayed a little WD-40 around the top, and it still took a lot of persuasion (pulling, twisting, and prying with a screwdriver), but it only took me about 5 minutes to take them both out.
