1/2 bridge idle question
my car doesnt want to hold idle most of the time every once in awhile it will but mostly it wont still working on getting it to idle consitantly. last night i was taking a friend out to show my new coilovers and got on it and one of my charge pipes blew off but as soon as that happen i let off the car idled i didnt think much of it so we pull over and put the pipe back on and we go and get on the freeway and i get on it and it blows off again so i let off and the car idles again. anybody have any idea why it would idle fine after those conditions?
thanks guys

the engine was nice and warm?
what do you try to idle at? did you try shutting off the idle control on the PFC and manually dialing it in on the TB (turn it back on after)?
have you done the TB cooland mod?

yeah the motor was warm, I did that on the power FC but sometimes it would idle okay, but it had its mind of its own.
the TB coolant mod has NOT been done.
I just got used to it and heal toe'd it all the time, but dan's not good enough to do that
when i first got the porting done, the idle would bounce and bounce but i changed it so it wouldn't
sometimes i could get it to hold an idle but it would bounce, i couldn't stand that so i made it so it would idle normaly but want to die.
I have a few ideas on what else it could be, give me a week dan and ill fly down and see if i can get it going(if you pick me up from the airport, cause im sick of driving)
Oh ya one other thing, i adjusted the set screw for the idle NOT under the elbow, but the one that goes to the butter fly valvels and everything else, i have a feeling with that and the one under the elbow along with the PFC i might get a stable idle.
hope i help'd
(this was my old car FYI)

A bridge port is going to have a lumpy idle. It's a fact of life. The way you got it not to was by having it idle on the verge of stalling. Either turn the idle back up or it will keep stalling.

My bridgeport occilates 300+ rpm with a midpoint of about 1000 to 1100rpm. If everything resolved after one of your IC pipes came off then your airfilter is plugged up or a hose is folding up, assuming your turbo turns normally and isn't jamming up creating a blockage. Which charge pipe are you talking about?

Did I understand that correctly? One of your IC pipes pops off and suddenly the idle becomes normal?
300rpms isn't very much, maybe your extra port is much smaller than mine? The range of RPMs is inversely proportional to the average RPM point as well. Meaning that if the average idle is shifted upward the swing becomes smaller, primarily because there isn't enough time for it to drop so far.

Hooray For Boobies!!!
Does it do the lumpy idle thing happen when ELD (electrical load) is detected. Like when your fans come on?
Just wondering because my car (not Half BP) would do this when it was kicking the idle up for load. I found out my TPS was out of adjustment. Readjust and send PFC back through the learn process.
Just a thought.
Good Luck.
