like the title says iam in the process of swapping a t2diff into the rear of my rx7, so far i popped the axles out of the diff and dropped the diff out of the car, i got the 35mm nut off the axles my only problem now is how do i get the axles "unstuck" from the hub, i expected it to slide out with a little tap of a hammer, but no luck so far.. any1 have any hints? and yes i searched
*edit* the reason iam taking out the axles in the 1st place is because iam replacing them with chromoly axles

you should be able to pull them right out??
i used a crow bar it helped.

 

the axles pop out just fine from the diff, i just cant get them out of the hub, ive been tapping them with a hammer all day.. lol

are you talking about club "26-139" because i was under the impression thats the clip for the wheel bearing, but if that was correct that would meen i need to remove the rotor to remove the axle also? there was also a little clip or the diff side of the axle, but that didnt give me any trouble

 

i think you are ready other than taking the brakes the rotors and calipers off.
see if you can just pull back on the axel and it be loose, if so all you have to do is kinda bend it in one direction and pull back at the same time wiggle it.



this also may shed some more light on it.

 

Massage the splines with PB blaster. Let it soak. Then take a large Brass hammer and hit the end of the axle inward. Do NOT hit the threads. Blast some more with the PB often and it will loosen up and slide out. Then clean up the hub splines and when installing the new axle coat it with Never Sieze.

My axle splines were practically rusted within the hub, and PB blaster worked for me. Sprayed the axle splines generously, left it to soak for a few hours. Came back and banged on it a few times. Sprayed another application and let it soak over night, and the next morning banged on it a few more times. Well you get the picture...multiply that by 10 and with some patience they finally broke loose.

If you want to save some time, go rent a hub/axle puller at your local parts shop.

is the nut off the axle already? what i did when it was stuck in the hub. I just took a sledge hammer and gave a gentle hit until it came out

 

If possible, leave the axle nut on loose but flush with the end of the axle for the serious banging.

 

yea the nut is off.. ive been letting it soak over night.. iam gonna go play with it some more in a little while..
