More Evidence!!!

Power for the Taiki will come from a new version of the Renesis rotary engine used in the RX-8 sports car. Mazda engineers say they have bumped displacement up to 1.6 liters (from 1.3 liters) and used direct-injection to increase torque output across the power band. This should allow them to create an even sportier car that is a little easier on the environment.
Now compare this sound to the vision sedan sound in the video I posted above!!!!! I think I am on to something!

And the clown car wheels... I don’t know who they think they are making this car for exactly lol

All production rotaries really have had poor off idle torque production.
I still think the best way to address this and drop some weight is to make an integrated 40ft/lb pancake motor flywheel (like the 2000 Honda Insight) that replaces the starter, alternator (and turbo?) and will start a "flooded" rotary by spinning the lazy bastard up to 3,000rpm no problems (like a tow start).

so the factory was shut down from 3/28 to 6/15, and the last Mx5 they built in March just shipped last week. usually when cars come out of the factory they are there for about 48 hours tops so 3 months is way out of normal

I can see that... life is short, and the current situation might have told people to stop waiting to enjoy life.

As best as I can tell, this is the latest news in the rumour mill:
https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-ne...-ar188258.html
Not exactly firm evidence, but better than nothing..
And at the very least, if it comes out with a straight six like a lot of the rumours indicate, I'm sure within weeks we'll see a 20b dropped in

Not that i think Mazda has anything on the way, but the new Cx90 does have a RWD platform, and the Mx30 might have a rotary somewhere in the world (it doesn't in North America)
in theory this gives the ingredients for something interesting/fun.

Toyota wants a real GT3 car that can beat Porsche GT3 in racing.
They determined need to start with a real performance based chassis since the Lexus RCF isnt cutting it.
They have thrown about the idea of using Mazda' RX-Vision chassis.
If Toyota and Mazda do a shared sports car its possible the new RX and the new Supra share a chassis.
The rotary passes emissions now and the size they chose for the range extender is the 16x.
A mild hybrid 16X (for starting, braking regen and torque) would be awesome.

Their new Auto transmission is a rwd-based 8 speed multi clutch with electric motor assist (torque fill) inside and no torque converter. KEY - no torque converter
Easily made into a clutchless performance transmission. They can develop a 6 speed proper manual for enthusiasts and offer both in a rwd performance car.
They could compete with the Supras and Zs with a new Rotary flagship RX-7 or 9? and maybe even an i6 Mazda 6 coupe (MX-6 anyone?)

Cars sales in 2022 completely tanked and somehow the #1 'sports car' in USA is the Mustang which only sold a measly 18,xxx units. Just take a quick gander over at Mustang production numbers throughout the years and start filling in the picture. There very little enthusiasm in the sports cars segment today (other than the normal fanboys who won't be buying anything anyways) and the market totally reflects this imo. Brands bank on generating clicks from daydreamers. Thinking anything RX will be coming down the production line is to me like a crackheads wet-dream.
And remember that Japan's top export is vehicles, which numbers show are way down.

the bright spot is the ND Mx5, its basically been sold out since 2019. its unusual to see sales go UP on a car, but the ND has...
they made about 9434 of them for the 22 model year, about a third of those were built in October too, so they just showed up, lol
i mean Mazda USA never mentions it, its fun they don't like anything fun

https://sportscar365.com/industry/tr...202025%20debut.
2025 projected date on new "Toyota" GT3
Looks like projected release date is to appease GT3 homologation rules (2 years, 20 units).
Sometimes the cars get raced and production is cancelled before the release.
