The actual versions of this plate that were used in the promo material sell for quite high prices.

I can find these for fairly cheap and can get them in all different materials, I would probably go with Carbon Fiber. Unfortunately, those are made for the 99+ bumpers and are cut a little short for added airflow through the bumper so on my plate it would look like somebody cut the bottom portion of my plate off.

I’m out of town for work, but I can look and see which one I bought from on Friday.

I'd like to get the 99 version "RX-7" if you have the link.

There are the most pricey versions but I have heard they are good quality. I'll try to dig up the others later.

There are a few places to get the cheaper versions like this. I just don't know how the quality compares to a reputable shop.

Got seven FD out to the Cars and Coffee at Point Gary today.

Three eras of JDM sports cars (and a corvette).

The BMW guys were better organized. You have to get there early! FDs were spread out all over.

A nice base Canadian LHD tastefully upgraded in the OEM+ style. Red car is a 1998 version 4, kept mostly stock.

Real FD Recaros ftw!

Another early CDN DM car with a kit from Shine. Part of a group buy of four kits made by members about 6 years ago.

Base seats are as nice as any. Soft texture replacement centre shift surround may still be available from Mazda parts desk. Rare Canada spec speedo.....

Half the cars had already cleared out by 10:00 am after police started issuing tickets for illegal parking. We need a bigger venue! People were excited about the Lambo (a Countach?) But actually they are fairly common around here.

Random FC from Alberta drove through late in the meet.

Plate came in today. I think it turned out pretty nice. Not authentic but wanted something that was custom to the car.

Nice! Hiroshima means "wide island" reflecting it is located on a river delta.

I chose that because that was where the Efini headquarters was located

BC First Chatime Meet 2023

Chatime meets, always very popular, were delayed this year as the organizer needed his car back from the shop after drifting into a wall at an earlier event. We arrived early anticipating holding spots for an expected eleven FD to show up, but after record hot weather earlier in the week, the rain started rolling in. Nevertheless despite the no-shows, the heavier the rain got the more full the lot got, until it was completely full. At the peak, a rather famous three rotor showed up, after having been driven across the Rockies and three other mountain ranges. Many people know this car and it drew a huge crowd. One can only imagine driving the Rockies in this sweet sounding three rotor. (Well, I did it in my RX3, 40 years ago, and even that was the single best driving experience I have had.)

Light rain turned heavier but the lot was completely full by the time darkness came. The FB is owned by a moderator of several face book RX7 forums.

Lots of LHD out tonight, enthused by the big win today. Collector plates require near mint original condition. Did we have a $ half million of cars out tonight?

As clean a car as you can find. This build was based on a very early USDM import. I traded a single Spirit R rim for its Mana A/C system.

Super slick 3 rotor set up! Talk about a peak OEM+ build! Deleting the windshield wipers might be a step too far. Hope he makes it to Wekfest in Seattle tomorrow., through our Westcoast rain.

Yesterday was the last VCMC AutoX before our combined Sevens Day event on July 16th. Arrived to see that Mission Raceway had cleared all the bramble away from the side of the backstraight, revealing a beautiful view of the Frazer River. Word is they plan hydroplane races at the venue. A little unnerving doing the backstraight slalom so close to the river (although that risk has always been there.) Swapped a lower mileage OEM cat in the car and ended up arriving at the end of the straight sections a little earlier than wise. Tough day for the cones. Learned just how good the updated abs works on a 99.

Enjoying the new view before first launch.

Mt. Baker was covered in cloud (or forest fire smoke) so not visible in this shot. On a clear day it will be stunning, Mt. Fuji-esque.

All these guys still beat me in spite of my added boost. Can't blame the car. The whit eMiata has a cool tracking devise that shows your route and sectional times around the course and can compare to other drivers with the same equipment. It will also combine your best sections to show your best possible time. The two drivers of the Miata we 12 seconds apart on a 50 second course (44 vs 56). The "56" belonged to the father. It was his first AutoX. He and his wife had just driven the car from New Brunswick. The son spun the Miata on the backstraight, with his wife as passenger. I wonder if they will be back.

On the way home dropped by Jerry's shop in the "Ridge". In addition to the Hahn Vielside he has many interesting JDM in his yard, including four vintage GTR coupes. Interesting to compare the FD design to the Aston Martin (same period?). The rasp (blast) from that car's V12 was awakening, even after 10 hours at the track.

"A" or "B", what would your choice be?

My choice of rear end treatment, despite being OEM elsewhere, is somewhat justified by this shot. The charred tree in the distance is on the site of a four story wood frame apartment building that made the national news last week by burning to the ground. All those JDM cars at risk! Was that choice of license plate just a coincidence?

Definately the FD as an "A" ride and the DB7 as a daily. Both have awesome lines.
Parts are probably cheaper for the Aston

"Driven" hosts participant tuner car shows across Canada. Today's meet for the Vancouver area was held at the hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam.

Mild overcast weather created good conditions for a meet with over 400 cars signed up.

Organizers gave our four FD a prime location with views East and South. We were beside a row of Tesla's showing off their wrap jobs.

Two members not afraid of big kit builds. three days ago this Ferrari's kit was spread out across the floor of the local garage building it. Local programer worked on car racing videos. He designed this kit from the 3D scanning done for the video games. Kit pieces were formed in China and shipped to Vancouver. Same builder is waiting for his RWB kit to come in for his Porsche. A similar RWB car was at the meet.

C's rear-mid powered FD is always a show hit.

That is a twin-turbo Audi engine under glass.

Say what.

Lots of extravagant Supras at the meet.

Old school RX made an appearance.

Beasty Boys

What is better than one Spirit R? Spirit R qualify for collectors plate 10 years early due to limited run of 1500. We are up to about 9 Spirit R in BC. No one knows for sure.

Local MB/Black '93 Canadian USDM took best in show. Yes that is a 13b out of an Eunos Cosmo.

Everyone is getting ready for Sevens Day. That meant many cars were available for a pop-up meet at YVR South. That two Spirit R were going to show, triggered an onslaught. A 9:21 sunset and smoke in the air from forest fires promised a spectacular backdrop as the sun found its Westernmost drop for the year.

What happens when you park three S8 at Mac'Ds at 8:00 PM?

16 other RX7 show up (plus one random MX6).

9:00 PM on the longest day of the year. Where is that sun rising?

Want to stand out? I have a suggestion.

Nobody gets to leave until the sun drops!

They leave the old TransCanada Airlines hanger lit up all night. No one knows exactly what is going on in there. But I swear I saw Agent Muldar grabbing a coffee at the airport MacDonald's a little while earlier.

I was two busy organizing the shots in the narrow window of catching the sunset. Close up shots are drifting into our local chat.

This fellow used the covid downtime to assemble the parts needed to achieve his dream car. Someone posted a pic from an old tuner magazine and the owner said it was his intention to replicate that car ever since he was 17.

In person you can see how remarkable a job he has done.

(Some scary things might be going on in the buildings in the background - Google "general fusion";. Did I mention Agent Muldar above?)

Dedication to a dream.

Proof of concept.

Myriad photos are drifting in from the surprise turn -out to our pop-up meet last Wednesday..

7 minutes to sundown.

A pano view of an earlier shot.

Daylight was still lingering at 10:00 pm making a nice backdrop for "lights on!".
