BC RHD FD Nation, North America Edition

Given the increasing number of RHD FD showing up in the US, plus the large community of RHD in Canada, the intention of this thread is to provide a forum for members to post pictures of their unique RHD FD.

Pics from RHD around the world are also welcome.

Lets see what is out there!

I have had my car since April 2015, but it was imported to Canada in July, 2014., by Tyee on Vancouver Island. It was an auction car out of Nagoya. It has original paint, Highlight Silver. It is a 1999, Type RB, Special Package. (JDM Version 5, "Series 8") It is on its third engine since landing in Canada, with the most recent having been built by Force Fed of Abbotsford , B.C. It has a basic "reliability mod' configuration and is tuned to 262hp at 7 psi (aka grandpa spec). Otherwise, my theme is to preserve the car close to original spec; but I have been accumulating parts to outfit it to 2001 Bathurst R spec. To that end I will eventually need a 280hp engine/turbo configuration such as in the Spirit R.

1996 RHD FEED RX7 - Alberta, Canada

Thank you for starting this thread! I hope it catches on and you get lots of interaction - you should also check out the new forum being started: https://rx7central.com/

My current RHD FD (my second one) is a 1996 that I personally imported from Japan to Canada in 2016. I was lucky enough to snag it at auction at USS Nagoya with the help of Mark Bremner of Brave Auto. It an extremely rare (#11 of only 17) FEED Afflux Ver V (Victory) widebody kitted cars actually assembled at the FEED garage.

Once the car arrived Canada side, it also went straight to ForceFed in Abbotsford for extensive surgery:
  • Engine bay respray to match the body
  • Full engine rebuild with an extend port and scalloped rotors
  • Brand New OEM turbos converted to parallel
  • V mount & custom piping
  • Water/Meth Injection
  • Electrical rewire and tuck including boost controller, gauge installation, GPS tracker, alarm and electric door locks.
  • 4.44 Diff
  • End result - 375 RWHP on conservative tune

Over the past few years I have also been busy:
  • Bride Gias II Carbon Seats and Rails
  • HKS HiperMax IV GT Suspension
  • All new braking system (929 master, Sakebomb Wilwood Kit in the front and and SakeBomb large rear kit)
  • All new front suspension components (control arms, bushings, wheel hubs, etc)
  • All new sound deadening and anti vibration on interior panels.
  • Another rebuild on the turbos......lets try to forget about that stroke of bad luck!
  • A pile of other things I am sure I have forgotten!

As you can tell I have ZERO interest in keeping my RX7 stock.....every 7 I have owned was modified. I can only assume my years of misspent youth playing video games is to blame, but I really do love the tuner look!

BC National Treasure

Your car is a national treasure.

I look forward to cruising the open two lanes through the Rocky Mountain trenches with you someday.

How about we meet in Kimberley on July 5th 2022, and cruise up to Jasper for Alberta Sevens' Day?

Epic!

The picture below is of my car as seen in the auction house posting in Japan. These types of pictures are usually taken in garages specific to a region's auction place. By recognizing the features of the garage I could determine that the picture was taken in Nagoya. The picture was used in car trader ads in Canada, and remained listed in many local markets, even though I managed to buy the car the day before the listings went up. It still shows up on Google. ("1999 Mazda RX7 Type RB")

BC Earlier the better.

Nice kit. Love the front fenders!

Check the VIN. If it is a 1992 Type R, could be a very early production run FD.

Also post to the SSM thread!

Show us some Vegas (car) club action!

I do attend SEMA every year, and lots of meets during that time. I try every year to get my cars in it.. but yet to be successful, maybe this year is it!

Last picture almost looks like a convertible. The kit and the wingless look makes the car look more long and low. Certainly sleek.

What kit or combination of kits do you have?

I believe it's the Vertex kit all round. And it's definitely longer then normal and low, I'm surprised that I don't scraped on ground or my fender.

BC Read all about it.

I have this issue. It is great source for identifying old kits which might come with your car.

Mazda ɛ̃fini RX-7 R1 FD3S-102355 manufactured January 28th 1992, mostly bone stock except visual and reliability mods. Factory vintage red re-sprayed in 1996 in Japan under warranty. it spent its first 15 years of life in Mishima City area (Mount Fuji) until being brought into Toronto ON Canada in July 2007 with 101,268 km on the speedo. I purchased it from a RX7club forum member August 8th 2017 and since owning it have done some upgrades, preservation and mods but overall my intention is to also keep the essence of the vehicle true to its original form.

Very nice shots.

Did the side-skirts come with the car when you got it?

Just wondering because it is hard to get a shop to paint secondhand ones, if you purchase non-matching colour in the used market.

Your car is indeed one of the earlier production cars, good to see it so well preserved.

If imported in 2007, I suppose it would have been one of the first wave of JDM FD imported into Canada under the greater than 15 year limit.

I recall there were a few late 1991 cars that we recorded in Canada. It would be interesting to know who has the oldest RHD FD in Canada now.

the skirts are shine auto i bought them after i received the car, i had the shop paint them single stage VR and it was a perfect match. yes for sure one of the early ones made and the first ones imported over. - i forgot to mention i comes from the Arai auto auction north of Tokyo.

i remember there was a black RHD in town here in Barrie ON in the summer of 2007, i then saw it for sale a year later in a guys driveway out on Mapleview west. i always wonder what happened to it, if i remember correctly it had the large 99 rear brakes..... this would also be an early one....
