I'm surprised by the high number. I would love to know how many of the different models are left but that's pretty far fetched.
Here I was thinking my R2 was rare(r)
Thanks to all who donated to get this info.

I was a little surpised by how high the numbers were as well. I think another reason for this is because the FD was such an expensive car when it came out, some original owners may have low mileage examples still sitting in their garages.
I know as an example there is a CYM owned by someone literally 5 minutes down the road from me. I have seen the car a few times when the garage was open and never being driven. I can imagine the owner is an older guy who keeps the car as a toy and rarely takes it out.

lol, i know the wyoming guy. his name is Tod. silver 93, c-west kit, t-76.
i dont think he's on here very much though.
i'm curious as well, as to how many are getting "worked on" and not currently registered. Or have been converted into track cars. at the time this list was compiled, i had a 93 and a 94, both are not currently registered, but will be in the next few months. that adds 2 more to utah, and i know of at least 2 others here in utah that are not currently registered as well.

these numbers are awesome, reguardless of the numbers being off "give or take" it's still proof that our beloved cars are rare and something to brag about to the PEONS and people that just don't know. i for one will be using these numbers to show my friends that said i was lame for spending $18 on a 13year old car

It's funny, whenever I have been asked over the years I always said 'there are probably about 10,000 left in the U.S.' and 'FDs seem to be most common in Cali, Florida, and texas.' Those numbers pretty much jibe with what I've been saying all these years

You wouldn't be surprised if you were here. VA had prob. the top rotary shop in the country for many many *many* years...PFS. They had more experience working on the FD than *anyone* else out there. Many of the "big dawgs" of today learned from and sought knowledge and advice from Peter and the gang. Hence, there's always been a large number of FD's in *Northern* VA, where the shop was located.
