It's illegal in the UK (and really daft anywhere) to fit rear-facing kiddie seats in the front seat of a car with airbags. If it goes off it folds your child in half and breaks its spine
Over here it's dependant on how much the kid weighs and their height IIRC what sort of seat you can put them in, which makes as much sense as anyhting. Which is to say not very much I think most people ignore the letter of the law on it cos no-one understands it. Well, I don't anyway. My four-year old loves going in the FD "cos it goes really fast and makes funny whooshing noises".
...it doesn't go really fast when I've got him in it, just in comparison to his mother's Hahhhndaa Jazz (Fit?) which is regularly overtaken by stationary objects.
But yeah, child seats is pretty pimp nowadays lol
