If you had to give up your FD
#76
In my opinion there are way to many corvettes to apprieciate them as much as an fd. Along with myself having to replace a rear main seal with only 5000 miles on a zo6, doesnt really thrill me. If i had to purchase something other than an fd it would be either a NSX or a MKIV supra. Or a fd with a 2jz-gte swap would be amazing!!!

if i had to give my FD up i for sure would be staying with imports. ive seen many people say NSX as a choice, sure they look nice but they are pretty slow for the price. for me it would be GT-R or a 2011 STI. its simple for me turbo room and for the GT-R pure driving ability of the car for the price nothing is like it in stock form. but if i had some money id be looking at an Alpha9 or Alpha12 GT-R

r33 gtr You can get one that's already imported stateside for about 22k if you look hard enough, with all the paperwork. Nothing says forbidden JDM like a skyline lol.
Or a Cosmo :P I would want one of those.

1) If you had to replace your FD with something else in the same price range what would it be? As several people have noted, there are slim pickings at the below $20k price point.
2) If you had to get rid of your FD, what would you upgrade to? Well at this point the sky's the limit because any upgrade implies a larger budget and nobody has specified a cap for it. The previous owner of my FD went to a 911 turbo as his upgrade.
I have no idea if the original poster was more interested in the answer to #1 or #2. The former is actually an interesting question, the latter is more mental masturbation than anything else.

Bingo - and therein lies the problem. People are not addressing the same questions mainly because the initial one was so ill defined. There are a couple ways of looking at this:

CSR Superlight...
If money was no limit, furai, or the Revolution Time Attack 7...or does that count as an FD?
A fortune NSX may be nice, but at this point without an FD, does it really matter?

If I gave up my FD it would be a need for money. I would have to have speed in my life and the two cheap alternatives are.....
I'd either start riding sportbikes again or build a V8 FB.
Used 600cc sportbikes with low mileage can easily be had for $5k. Could put together a pretty mean V8 FB for the same price.

In this order:
Current FD finished twin turbo car.
3 rotor 42R FD 99+ metallic blue.
New ACR Viper black and green color combo.
I am not getting rid of the FD. I did it before and I'll pass on doing it again. So that IS the order of cars to come.

Like people are choosing the zonda lol. ITs like 20x the price of an FD. Maybe more depending on which model zonda you're referring to.
Any person would be dumb enough NOT to choose a zonda or something within that price range to replace the FD just going by value. Whether they like the car or not.
Fact of the matter is and my point was proven in this thread is that people stay/choose the FD because soley of its rarity and looks. (which proves my point in another recent thread too).
While others say viper GTS and nsx, simply seem like they got spoiled from the FD looks, going from it to another car not as cosmetically pretty as the FD but a good damn car, would be a downgrade (in terms of looks), and they want something that gives those looks like the FD did.

after my 3rd FD ive finally had it.
im actually thinking of selling it or just beating the **** out of it at the track.
only car that would possibly fill the void would be a TVR Sagaris imo

I bought my FD with cash, so the only reason I'd ever sell it is if I needed extra money. Which I don't.
In all honesty I have no intention of getting rid of my FD, however I think if I had to choose a comparable car it would be the Noble M400. Brand new it's pretty damn expensive, however I think you could find one used for about the same amount of money that most FD owners have invested in their vehicles by now anyway
