Adamrs80... I had one high on my list, but Brian Long and Koby talked me out of it. I'm back. I agree with all your comments. Its interesting to me that I find so may cars from right around 1991 to be of such interest. My 93 R1 was made in 1992. My BMW M3 is a 91. My BMW 850 is a 91. If I bought an NSX, it could be a 91... I think its an age thing of some sort.
Hammer... The stock car made 270 fwhp. Are you saying 280 to the wheels with some bolt ons? And, I don't mind taking off the heads, if somebody makes cams. Gordon Science of Speed sells/makes the cam sets, along with the ITB's. |

A true enthusiast wants something with more power than a V6 Camry....at least, in the real world....but some people love antiques

I think an enthusiast, a true one, is someone who appreciates all types of cars for what they are, i.e., doesn't think that it's crap if it's not amercian muscle, Japanese Tuner car or whatever...
Basically and enthusiast loves all cars even if it's a Gremlin... |
I've been considering ditching my FD and getting into the new Mustang Boss w/track pack. It's time for a change.

The Mustang chassis, while capable of providing great fun and good stability in most situations, is not in the same league with the Corvette and GT-R. |

Honda borrowed heavily from this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_Testarossa there is far more than a passing similarity (side strakes aside).
If Honda would have planned the NSX properly, it would have had a high revving V-8, at least 400 hp, and a price tag of ~ $60k. Such a car, although somewhat long in tooth, would probably still be here. As it is, the NSX was a failure for Honda. As far as the Camry V-6 comment, you really don't think I could match the NSX's power output with a few mods to that engine? Really? The NSX is a mid 13s to low 14s car. |

1Quick7... I think the NSX is the spiritual heir of the Ferrari Dino 206GT. The Dino weighed 2400 pounds and was powered by a high revving 2 liter v6 making 180 fwhp and is still considered one of the best handling drives of all time. The current Octane compares the Dino to the F355 and the old (certainly an antique) Dino came out the preferred ride. I had one as a driver back in 1972 and it remains my favorite car of all time. The Honda NSX is a 2900 pound car powered by a high revving 3 liter v6 making 270 fwhp. Both have very supple rides. Both are extremely forgiving. Both have intoxicating engines. Both are very low and very small cars for their times. Honda may have even done it consciously, just as they did more obviously with the GB500 TT motorcycle tribute to the Isle of Mann thumpers. So, I wouldn't put it past them to have said, hey, let's do a tribute to the Dino. Whether they did it consciously or not, it is the closest thing you can buy to a Dino for under $50,000.

And, again, I never said it wasn't a great car (or that performance was all about the 1/4 mile) - in its time - but time marches on, and the NSX has literally been left in the dust. The FD is still relevant, because it is still competitive in the compact sports car market with other cars at its (original) price point. The NSX on the other hand, at its (original) price point, competetes directly with the Z06 and GT-R, and loses big time in every performance measurement, so it comes down to nostalgia or a desire for perceived exclusivity on a budget - hey, that's fine, it's a free country - but NSX worship by its faithful and loud dismissal of anyone who challenges its "greatness" is downright laughable.

I'm kind of tired of being insulted personally. I don't post anything directed at yzf, because he's like a tiny drunk Irishman |
Phew I thought I was the only one who thought like this.
I don't like causing drama on this forum...anymore lol but i have to call it like I see it. Yzf is very ignorant, close minded and contradictive. He said he never said the nsx wasn't a great car but then it was hondas failure. He said he never said anything about its performance yet said its slow, he can't wait to see one on the road so he can "kill" it. And said it only runs high 13s low 14s. In this thread he gave much praise to the c6z yet only a couple of months ago was totally thrashing it in another thread when we were comparing it to the fd lol. Maybe I should bump that thread so we can the split personality that comes about with this guy... lol

What I don't get is just what is all his emotion about? What's with all the anger and arrogance and pontificating? Back when people used to duel one another over matters of "honor" yzf would have been a bloody mess from all the challenges he would have issued. Now to some sort of point. I'm kind of tired of being insulted personally. Don't know about all the others that yzf is constantly insulting, but I've had it. This guy acts like he is some sort of knowledgeable guy whose opinions are in some way more important or more insightful than everyone else's, yet there is little or no evidence that he is any more than a lonely blogger with a couple of used sports cars that get him admission to the forums. I don't like being insulted slyly earlier, when he said a true enthusiast would want a car with more power than a Camry, except (he) "likes antiques". I make a comment about how interesting it is that there seem to be so many good cars from 1991, including the NSX, and this guy says something about nostalgia and an "older collector". I don't post anything directed at yzf, because he's like a tiny drunk Irishman -- and I dearly love 'em -- in a bar trying to pick a fight. Everyone just ignores him, if its at all possible. But this constant attacking of people who are just trying to share thoughts with each other is more than tiresome. I think this guy needs some counseling and quaaludes. Now, please excuse me, I have to go and worship the NSX. Be right back. :) Gordon |

Actually I said mid 13s to low 14s - you can't even get that right.

Can't we all just agree that we disagree and move on? Too easy?

Just posting an opinion (backed up by actual facts, imagine that) like anyone else has the right to do.

With some suspension tweaks the Z06 is one heck of a performance bargain |

Go look back at this thread. When I first posted about the nsx, you quoted me. Then within a couple of hours from that, you bump my thread to give me your "2 cents". Then in the oil thread that was recently locked, you quoted me FIRST to give me your "2 cents"... again. So how am I the stalker? I don't even think youre being ignorant right now, I think you're just plain dumb. Your posts show it countless times but you try to twist it on us to make it make sense for you. I seen people that do that. But they live in mental institutions. Really? I've done nothing but post FACTS about the NSX. You keep spewing out this "ignorance" bullshit, prove what I posted was in fact ignorant - you can't. I'm "close minded" to nonsense and superfluous opinions. My points on the NSX have been extremely consistent here. More of your lies/nonsense - I never slammed the Z06 relative to the FD |
