How to value your FD

THE.NILE is not just a river in Egypt.
Oh don't take off your panties just yet. Aristo is a base owner himself and he has long been in your camp, nothing new here. It just so happens that he is one of the ones I was thinking of when I mentioned that there are those that believe the chassis is stiffer and can feel 0.6% of weight difference with fixed roofed FDs.
Well given that it is their business model to INSURE COLLECTIBLE cars for appropriate value: Very.
It is what they do and I know that you understand this.
Look, I know you guys don't like it but at this point even the companies whose lively hood depends on properly appraising classic vehicles aren't recognizing it. Maybe they will in the future, but that ain't happening today. The forum is not the end all and be all, it is small tiny fraction of the population and what you see as a preference here does not necessarily mean is preferred outside. Collectors aren't track people nor do they fit the typical enthusiast stereotype.
Bwahaha! of course it doesn't! It is obvious you won't accept anything that won't fit your narrative. It wouldn't surprise me if you're also a flat earther or are you an antivax guy?
And where's your proof to back up your claim? Oh yeah you don't have any.... How convenient.
Two sources coincide with my stance. You brought none to the table, NONE. Not one thing to back up your claim other than your worthless speculation. And I'm convinced that there is no amount of proof that would kick you out of your denial. Because it's obvious that you bought the hard top thinking it was more valuable and now you're salty about it.
Ahh I see your ***** is still sore? Nice and you're welcome

Yes. Nothing like resorting to derogatory comments.
I'm still just fine haha. I find it odd that you think you hurt peoples' feelings. This is a car forum. I do not care what you think. You have proved nothing. You've pasted links, and the only research you've done yourself is on an insignificant amount of data. It's all opinion and I'm sticking with mine unless you magically show sales of 20 of each color within a year that actually supports your opinion. Funny how you keep ignoring the FACT that you do not have enough data to be conclusive. I feel like I'm talking to Fox News or Trump haha.

Based on early bidding, that silly-low mileage MB Touring on BaT looks like it might be the new record setter.
I was joking about how valuable the GLASS sunroof would be, but maybe I was right all along!
Looks like the valuation order goes: awful, heavy, gross metal sunroof / smooth-roof (I've decided that's the new term for no sunroof) / and then WAAAAY above those is the rare, beautiful and desirable GLASS sunroof.

I agree! But you know what's even better? A guy who is still desperately trying to engage in an e-fight one week after the fact.

Will the final price be 50k.......60k.........70k........etc.... There comes a point in the collector world where value means nothing and that's the direction that low mileage FDs are headed which means I probably won't buy another low mileage one. In the article they mention a Supra that sold for 120k recently, now relisted at 500k, crazy world. That's a fat stack for a pretty basic GT sports car. Hard to fathom an FD could ever sell for 100k much less 500k. The collector world is a trip for sure.
I'd take the 95 PEP MB with 41k miles at 35k (and it sold for 26,500) vs this car at 50k. Best buy I've seen so far was the 94 VR base model with 9k miles that didn't make reserve (bid to 47250) but was later sold for approx 50k in the private market last year.

I never would have thought a Montego Blue FD would be the first to crack the $50,000 barrier on BaT. Very nice time capsule. It really shows how the market for these is going up. We've seen several equally nice low mileage black and silver and red FD's go through in the past year and none broke through. Someone said it could hit $60,000. That's actually possible.

Yep the ssm/black touring was very nice but it was a 93 and had 12k miles vs 4k. Examples like this could end up with many issues because of dirty fuel tanks. Typically when this car sits for even 6 years the fuel tank is a mess (this one sat for 12 years). You should replace the tank not drain it LOL.
Values are clearly climbing. Based on this IF we see an R2 of any color with 5k miles or less it's going for BIG money.

Two guys who have sold more FDs then anyone else in the US market are both saying hardtops are in higher demand. I'm sure Fritz gets a ton of inquiries like I do even when I don't have a car listed. People want R models and Base Models over tourings/peps and they will gladly pay the difference. As I've gotten older I personally prefer the sunroof now. However, my personal preference doesn't change the facts. Some fail to understand that.
YEP, more people prefer the sunroof and that's been my experience so far however as time moves along I do think more people will gravitate toward the hard top. This sounds like I'm saying sunroof cars are worth more.........NOPE........ because there are not many hardtops available or the demand outweighs the supply and those that want a hardtop are desperate for one because they've been searching for months. Meanwhile there's a nice sunroof FD for sale somewhere each week. Supply and demand rules even in tiny markets like this but it will take years to convince Montego because so few will be sold, scratch that I don't think he'll ever be convinced.
