Only $35k - my feeling is that this auction was hampered by the Monday end day. I really thought it would have been closer to $40k.

If I did I don't want the money. I enjoy watching the FD market change. The more info we are presented with the less I seem to understand it though honestly.

As a bidder and someone seriously interested in the car I offer my two cents. I have noticed on BaT that whenever a low mileage, rare example of model shows up, the
first one to auction generally does better than the next, which was obviously the case here as I didn't see much separating these cars. I was expecting it to go to $38k and
was a bit surprised what it hammered at. Throw in the buyer's fee and it was a touch more than I wanted to spend. Hopefully I don't regret it.

Does BAT have a fee structure based on the day and time of day that your auction concludes? I do agree that a Monday Noon ending time is probably less conducive to a higher hammer price than say, Friday at 1 pm?

Congrats!!! Glad you finally found a NICE FD! 36k isn't too bad all things considered especially when you think about the buyer who paid 51,500.........OUCH!!!!

I think you won and thanks for not getting us into trouble for gambling

Seems easy to me. If the car has low mileage it's worth between 30 to 50k. If it's your average FD it's worth 10 to 50k depending upon maint, mods, compression, what state it's in, paint work, who's owned it, how it's driven, what color it is........................ LOL

I cant imagine that anyone who really wants this car would pay a different price depending on the day the auction ended.

This sounds like a better explanation for the lower ending price. Congrats on your purchase(??), if I am reading this correctly. I dont think you will regret it.

Sorry guys, I re-read my initial post and it does sound a bit cryptic.

I did not win the auction, I was outbid.

So, I'm still looking for that perfect FD.

As David said there will be no recipe other than prices are going up and be ready to pull the trigger on the right car or someone else will. In other words it's just business as usual only the steaks have increased.

94 SSM R2
32k miles 42500 (not stock and not mint but my favorite model and color FD)

93 VR/black touring
9k miles 49 (easily the best over all car so far IMO but the buyer also paid the price)
15k miles 35 (good deal with quality bolt ons and an extra set of OEM wheels but low compression)
17k miles 40 (my gut told me this one may lean more toward barn find variety than well kept but only the buyer can answer that one)

93 VR/tan touring
21k miles vr/tan 30250 (another good deal all things considered)

If looking for an FD to actually drive then there will be no regretting not getting that car at 36k. Best of luck!

The "steaks" may have increased, but what about the potatoes?

Barbell look still in place but the bar is definitely thicker or the potatoes are now rising with the tide as are my favorite menu item the bacon cheeseburgers

Damn. That made me belly laugh. A rising tide lifts all cheeseburgers.

Hey everyone. My dad and I were super interested in that FD on BAT a couple days ago as well, and he ended up winning it. I'm gonna be on the forums a lot more now.

I was surprised at how low the auction ended as well. I thought originally it would go for $45k after seeing the 9k mile one go for so much. But I guess having a nicer one before it in addition to the Monday ending hurt it. We thought we were gonna get in a long bid war against you so that last 2 minutes waiting for a bid was very suspenseful.

Anyways guys, car's going to get driven probably 2-3k miles a year and sit in a garage the rest of the time. Little bummed it's a touring (hate moonroofs) but hey, it's pretty nice.

Sorry, but what's SS? Supercar Sunday? I'm not really in sync with all the different shows, I usually just go to cars and coffee every weekend.
