First time starting the FD in almost 6 years!

This FD was neglected for a long, long time.

Been slaving away at bringing this thing back from the dead all week.
I can finally sit back, this beer tastes really good for some reason haha.

I got the start up on video, thought you guys might enjoy.
Cheers!

Nice! I had my FD blow a motor while I was in school. It sucks, but it's definitely awesome to have it going again!! What was keeping it from starting?

Hard to say. I mean, it sat for so long and I did all the normal stuff you would think to do. Almost all the fluids, changed the oil and fuel filters. Jumped it and it wouldn't fire. So I started digging. Checked all my injectors, wiring to them, coils, etc.

Everything checked out, then I went ahead and replaced the battery since the shop told me it wouldn't hold a charge. And it fired up. 😮

My only guess is maybe the terminals on the old battery were bad.
But I drove it around a bit and everything is working very well. So I won't complain.

Military stuff I'd say.
Then transitioning out, moving around for new jobs.

It was actually a pretty big impulse buy. Bought it in 2011, and put maybe 50-60 miles on it since then.
Almost feels like a time capsule, going through this thing lol

Did you drain the gas from the car before starting it for the first time in 6 years or is that 6 year old gas?

Crazy going through something after so many years isn't it!? I've got a Nissan that I haven't ran since December 18th, 2010. Just pulled it out of my enclosed trailer and actually worked on it for the first time in 6 years. Very weird feeling

Yeah no kidding.
I used to resent the fact that I bought it, Especially since after some time it was mostly just a big question mark that I rarely ever saw.
I honestly felt like I knew nothing about this thing even though I had the title for it. Weird feeling. But after rolling up the sleeves and getting in there, it has a strange mystique to it or something haha and I'm very glad to have it. Especially after getting familiar with the aftermarket ecu and putting a map on there myself.

I still had the previous owner's number and I called him to ask for some basic information about the car... 5.5 years after I bought it like I just bought it a week ago lol
He was surprised and excited to hear about his "old firebreather" haha

Awesome man, congratulations.
I'll be doing the same here soon hopefully. Might wait until Spring, it's been about 5 years for me. =/

Too funny. Love the "High Hopes" singing Next time, open the garage. Even if it's raining the worst that could happen is to get the nose of the car wet. Will keep you from getting too smoked out

Very cool. I know the feeling well. Mine was about 10 years and in a million pieces.
Great stuff.
