Thinking of getting a RX7
Not sure if this belongs here but I cant post new threads in the 'Lounge' for some reason.
I am thinking of buying a 3rd Gen rx7 and I have a couple of questions.
I hear they are very expensive to maintain. Is this true?
How much money would I have to put into it to make it a 12sec car.
How reliable are the rotary engines?

Lets see.
I guess they're relatively expensive to maintain. Not outrageous if you're smart about it.
I'm right at the 12 second mark. What got me there was
Intake $400
Downpipe $200
Catback $500
Hi flo cat $700
Power FC $1400
Then the ECU needs to be tuned. That should get you just under 13sec. Add an IC and you should be able to run 12s without much trouble.
And rotary engines are pretty darn reliable IF you take care of them and do mods correctly. Find a rotary specialist in the area for tough jobs.

If you get one, it would be in your best interest to do mods yourself as much as you can. Unless you have the money and more importantly a reliable rotary expert close by.
The car is expensive to maintain in terms of money and time. You'll also find that mods for this car aren't cheap and time spent searching deals or even used parts will save you some considerable cash.
Its all worth it though and every 7 owner I've met whether 1st 2nd or 3rd gen, have been awesome.
Good luck!!
