I actually considered purchasing a set of new Rotas for my FD at one point, but a few things I didnt like about Rota are: They do not forge their wheels and they arn't very light. Another thing, I was imagining myself removing the center caps from my Rotas, because I didn't want ppl to know what kinda wheels i'd have. I decided to go with a used/reconditioned set of Rays wheels that ended up costing me roughly the same as a new set of Rotas.
Overall I wouldn't put Rotas on my car, but I dont have anything against them

pix or texas?
Wow that FD is ruined! But least he posted a pic. There's more boys chatting with each other on this thread than actual pics of RX-7's. Don't lie, I know you all got each other's cell #'s and Facebook.
And since this is an FD pic thread, there's got to be tons of pictures like this:

Wheels are wheels most bitches dont know the difference anyhow...i never seen rotas break personally, seen some volks and enki RPF1s. Volks hit a pot hole or somthing, RPF1s slid onto a brick road and the bricks werent level lol. Soo does that really count..not in my book. i know ppl with rotas that have 700+hp cars and they hold up just fine doin 80mph+ burnouts and taking corners pretty fast. id buy them any day.

Well, while its not my cup of tea, for what it is it's fairly well done. only thing I would say is if your gonna go that route, get the fitment on the wheels a little better, so their out a little more and flush with the body kit. I'm all for doing what you want to do. I hate it when people ask "should I do XXXX to my car?" Instead he just went out and did what he wanted. Different strokes for different folks guys.

I respect the amount of work that went in the car everyone's bagging on, but it's definitely not something I would do. As far as the Rotas go...well they a cheap weak knock offs, but I would buy a set for track wheels. But people that try to put Volk center caps on them deserve to be roundhoused by Chuck. I'll stick to my Volk, WORK, or SSR's for my nice wheels..
I keep digging up these old shots for my wheel sale, speaking of wheels.

So as to not turn this into some overbearing discussion of Rotas, here's a pic of something new
TheCrazyAZN: hey dont take everyone too seriously. Ive seen your car in person a couple of times at HIN in Dallas and Austin and i personally love the car. it may not meet everyone's taste but all that matters is that your happy about it.
i do recomment getting wider wheels or some spacers to make them more flush. the only problem i see is that the wheels look dug in which messes up the look and stance.

Man oh man have the times changed and with it the trends as well. Ive heard plenty of criticism from plenty of people all over the country from the events the cars been to and it doesn't bother me (flame suit on, haha)
My car had the kit fitted years ago. This was when the trends called for wide body kits and large fender flares and flashy colors. Wheels were fitted to sit inside the car to "tuck" the rims and tires. Also, tires were purchased to match the width accordingly. (No stretch) "Aggressive" wheel fitment wasn't really part of anyone's car modifying dictionary and there wasn't much information on finding the most flush fitment without making a multi-thousand-dollar educated risk of just buying wheels and see how they would fit. It was more about if it would clear the fenders, clear the BBK and how much contact patch you could get on the ground (I'm running 275/30 on 19x10s all around). Where as now, I see 215 width tires on a 10 inch wheel. Haha, fitment unheard of a few years ago.
The kit actually has 3 faces of bends or lips to the outer fender for what seems to be for the sake of structural rigidity. So for me to run spacers or have an ever lower offset, I would have to do some cutting of the body kit and perhaps some repainting. Something I definitely plan to do later. But the kit will definitely stay on the car.
I see simple and clean lines returning to the car scene. No more wild and gaudy kits. More function than form. So, to me, I understand why Im getting flamed so much for my car today, but it is a race inspired kit designed by one of the rotary world's top tuners based on the real grand touring race car. So it probably holds some sort of functional value. Just doesn't fit today's current trends.

Mazda RX-7's never "followed the trend."
There's a difference between conforming to a trend and enhancing a classic design.
Here's another pic:

ok. i have to say it.for those of you out there that don't like wings i understand.i like the look of a clean fd myself.that being said,if your going to put on a gt style body kit you need a wing on the back to balance out the flow of the car. if you don't like wings then try a subtler kit like a burnout kit or stock with flared fenders.jmho.

In defense of TheCrazyAZN,...
I've seen this car in person and I have to say, its very well put together and nicely done. I say its better put together than most FD's I've seen at different events.
In another note, especially those of you are so called, "purists" and like the bone stock look... Please, before you start saying negative things about someone else's car, most of you done nothing to your exterior.... Also realize that it takes very little work nor cost to go back to stock form and its easy to buy another stocked bodied car... Sure, some exterior pieces and looks you might not like, but give some credit to those who try to be different and those who put effort into their cars. I see so many negative BS on this thread and some have never really done anything to their car... By what I've seen of TheCrazyAZN's car, I'm sure he could easily go buy another STOCK bodied FD.. Same goes with me, I've had people tell me I ruined the factory styling of the FD and I'm like, "Well, that's why I have another FD". And contrary to what some of you think, I also respect all stock cars. But not worn out all stock car or poorly put together with stock exterior... I mean, how many people have seen clean, all stock, in and out FDs?? I've seen maybe 4-5 over past 5 years going to different rotary events all over USA.. If you have that kind of cars, I think you could call yourselves a purist. But otherwise, I think its better to keep your mouth shut and be bit more positive vs. negative... because, we all could pick on each other for what we do with our cars... either stock or modified.

I'm so suprised how everyone reacted on TheCrazyAZN Ride, back then when he posted pics everyone was like wow, beautiful and all, now just because it's not 99spec or stock body it looks like ****, you guys treat it like he has a old school Veilside kit, which at one time everybody loved, and don't lie to yourself that you didn't like it at one time...
