Need advice on SS Downpipe
I need an opinion about this. I am one who buys stuff on impulse. Sometimes it is good but most of time I wind up in heap of trouble. Anyway, I am shopping for a downpipe for my 3rd gen and narrowed it down to the HKS. Another thing is that I could save alot of money buying used but I always try to get a new one. Guaranteed satisfaction I guess. Well, a new HKS downpipe will cost me arount $225 bucks. Tonight I found a SS downpipe for $200 brand spanking new. I got excited, I didn't even ask the store what kind it was.
So...here's the dilema. Brand spanking new nameless downpipe or HKS mid steel down pipe for 25 bucks more.
I'm leaning towards the SS because of the price. I need another rational thinker. Please put your $.02 cents in.
For the mean time, I'm going to sleep on it.
Thanks,
Jason

Hey..
Hey i'm in lik ethe same position as u.. i'm in search of a downpipe as well.. I was contemplating between either the HKS downpipe (mild steel for about 300can) or a custom stainless steel one for 250can.. ???

The problem with the HKS DP is that it was designed for a right hand drive car. In Japan the steering runs right next to the turbos. Because of this the DP has bends in it that many of the US made DP have eliminated. It's not enough restriction that you will notice but some of the US DP out there are really good.
I would say to buy the SS DP....my mild steel DP got ugly real fast when I was stock sequentials.

I ordered it today....
I guess I should have thought about the functionality being the same on both downpipes. I went ahead and got the SS instead of the HKS. Thanks for all of your input. It made sense.
Thanks,
Jason
PS...now I need a good intake. Apexi Dual Power Intake ($215) or save for a good cold air from m2, CWR, PFS or Pettit? I guess I'll save this for my next post. Laters!
