Does the 3rd gen tell you when your low on gas?

No...The yellow/orange fuel DOES NOT illuminate when you are in pre ignition. Your oil and temp. gauge will illuminate in red though.........Trust me when you get low enough the fuel light will come on...G......

yeah, there is a light, i just don't know where either. This was taken directly from the 93 owners manual sitting right next to me:
* Low Fuel Warning Light
This warning light in the fuel guage signals that the
fuel tank will soon be empty.
Get fuel as soon as possible.

Don't ever rely on that light. . .
I know different models, but I think the system is the same, I drove my '84 around on empty to see when the fuel light comes on. I guess the bulb was bad because I ended up walking a couple of miles to get gas.

If I remember right from the manual, there's approx. 2.7 gallons left when the light comes on. You can still go for a little while after the light goes on because I had to let mine go for a while because of a movie time and I had to have gone at least 30 miles after the light went on at 13 mpg. But, I know I got lucky that night, still no running out of gas incidents for me yet (knock on wood).

Mine comes on when it's too late ... just barely too late. I've run out of gas twice (in good locations so no biggie) and both times the warning light decided to come on the first time after the car died initially and I tried to restart it (it restarts a couple times, but dies). I think mine is a little bit too accurate, and that's why I carry a spare gallon in the back.

i drive mine until the trip meter either hits 300 miles for the tank, or until the fuel warning light comes on and STAYS on (after it STAYS on, i try to get to a gas station within 20 miles). never ran out of gas before, and the most gas i've ever put in it is only about 18.5 gallons

when i was test driving another 3rd gen, b4 i got mine. I was having so much fun kicking it in and i was so amazed by the power, that i ran outta gas and barely made it back to the dealer. That was a 94 Base. Now i have a 94 touring ad i think they might have added a empty light, but i learned my lesson and make sure i always see FULL on my gas gauge.

Rix 7,
it's probably split 50/50 between highway/city miles.
actually, lately (last 10 tanks or so), i've had to fill up cause the light has been staying on (before i hit the 300-mile mark -- but i've been close -- 270-290 miles). so over the last 10 tanks, i've been averaging about 14-15 mpg per tank i remember the days when the car was stock & i used to get 17-19 mpg (per tank -- combined city/highway miles).
on a side note, my first personalized license plate (back in 93) for my 7 was "RIX 7"

You both don't get it.
I said my engine threw up. Threw up an apex seal. Died
I had filled up in Atlanta and drove to my parents house in Alabama for the weekend. It is 240 miles to their house. On my way home I stopped by my Uncle's house and 10 miles from there it died. Towed it back to his shop and it had 1/4 tank of gas left in it.
This was a year ago, and I'm saying the gas is still in there. I couldn't remember exactly how many miles I had been, but when thinking about it I can find out for sure by looking at my trip odometer, because it is just like it was a year ago.
I have yet to drain the Gas.

My light came on once, but it was way below empty. Most cars start to tell you that you are low at about 1/8th of a tank.
300 miles per tank is cake. Not sure if it's because I am at sea level. I have a pretty heavy foot, and I still get around 19-20 Miles per gallon.
