Chronic Repairs?

Chronic Repairs?
If the FD I purchased has a brand new engine, turbos, and 75k total miles am I really going to be plagued by the constant repairs that everyone talks about. It's my main car but I don't drive very many miles a week. Do you really think I am going to be in the shop all the time and if so what is going to go wrong. I know about all the problems with engines going after 10-80k miles but what kind of other problems have people had that should be on the lookout for. If I baby the car do you think it is possible to go months or even years without any problems?

It's been about 3-4 months and i've put close to 10,000 miles on the car...it now has close to 74,000 and I really beat the **** out of my car. I drive her hard, but I also pamper her with oil changes every 1000-1500 miles, all new fluids, pre-mix, proper warm up and cool down times, and race from a roll, rather than from a stop.

It's hard to say without knowing more about the car and who put in the new engine. I think it would be wise to pencil in a bit of shop time upfront, just to get caught up on maintenance and resolve any currently existing problems (if there are any).
Most typical problems are 5th gear syncro, worn out suspension bushings, sequential turbo boost problems and complete engine failure from overheating or detonation. If you had any of these problems you would probably already know.
Be sure to find out if all the "reliability mods" have been done. Perform any that have not been done yet. There are lots of lists of the recommended "reliability mods" floating around on this forum.
So if you don't have any existing problems then "reliability mods" and regular maintenance should keep you on the road and out of the shop.
