aftermarket radiators - real numbers
I'm pretty sure I'm going to get an aftermarket radiator (fluidyne likely) soon, but I'd like to hear some actual numbers from people who have them. I'd be interested in hearing how much lower coolant temps were under what conditions. As I am right now, I'm floating around mid 90s C while cruising and in traffic it seems to creep up to 115C or so which is the part that scares me (and the fans definitely are working too).
Also, anybody got any particularly good sources for fluidynes? Kinda wish I'd gotten in on the $400 group buys that were happening a while ago, but oh well.
Thanks-
matt

as far as numbers, I can't help you, I need a new one myself.
As far as where to get them: http://www.absoluteradiator.com/ has them for $413
*but* remeber that the RX7 store (link at the top of the page) should be able to match that price, and you're helping support the forum if you buy there.

i will be able to report some numbers to you in a few weeks after i get my fluidyne radiator. 115 celsius is higher than the rx-7 is designed to work at. it should never go past 110 so you definitely need to upgrade. absolute radiator is getting in a new batch of fluidynes on friday...i just inquired.

Also, to lower your temp, try using a 80% water and 20% coolant mix during hot summer weather. This lowers the temp dramatically. This is recommended in your manual.
Flushing the radiator every other year is also recommended.

Has anyone managed to put an aftermarket water temp gauge in the stock location? I really want a water temp gauge but I don't want to add a second gauge on the a pillar.

no need to buy a new one or screw with the stock gauge positions - you don't get a numerical reading, but that's not too incredibly important - better than not knowing until it's too late.

My Koyo was just put in also(along with my PowerFC, and M2 lg IC, flush coolant) nice piece, big. Absolute radiators told me these were the ones that Japanese racers used in Japan. The Highest the temp on my PowerFc goes is 96 on a hot, stop and go day (can't remember if I had the AC on.) Ususally my temps are low to mid 80's.
